Because of all these experiences, even when you genuinely smile or strike a conversation with a desi, he/she first suspects you to be an ammway guy. This is not fair and good idea. what about people waiting in line for years and invested their money elsewhere because of this green card delays or those who do not have enough money and job in this market situation. All of the sudden you are brining this idea. This is not fair. This is kind of buying green card. There is a investment based green card category available for that. I request you to go through that channel if you are rich. Not all employment based green card seekers are rich. Please keep that in mind.

My current EAD expires on Aug 13th 2008. I currently working on EAD. I applied EAD 110 days before and my EAD was approved and card production ordered on June 25th 2008. I still did not receive my EAD in the mail.

The tone wasn't the most cordial nor was it demeaning. It's not a popularity contest. The key is to not take things personally. I have a lot of respect for President Kalam. I doubt it whether he knows about the USCIS has changed the spill overs to horizontal fall outs and due to that the number of visas added to EB2 India/China. The horizontal spill over is giving a greatest adventage to EB2 India and making it run to catch up CURRENT. I will not, even in my wildest dreams, claim that the recession is due to the H1Bs and L1s. That is complete baloney spread around by the anti immigrant lobby. My point is let the deserving the GCs soon and not go thru the mindless wait I went thru.
Having said that I am for the following :
1. If the outsourcing companies would pay on an avg at 80K per head for the "well qualified" people, I am even ok with their dumping their dumping the L1s here. Why is it that you guys are ok with the L1s being dumped at 40K-60K salaries ? Shuldn't they get paid high too ? This is what I am arguing for. If the outsourcing cos dont want to pay this rate, then keep them in the country of origin. No need to depress wages here. Is this a wrong thing to ask ?
2. Grassley's bill may force some companies to move entirely to India or China. Isnt that good for India and China ? Why are the pro immigrants against this ? Some times I get the feeling as to who actually is pro and who is anti immigrant !!!! In adition, it may eliminate the many backlogs and help the deserving people here.
3. People who have made a conscious decision to immigrate here have done so considering the standard of living as one of the primary factors in their decisions. In order to enjoy this standard of living, people have to constantly upgrade skillsets to remain competitive in an industry or move to another industry where mass interest is relatively low. Why should these people's lives, after all the travails, be impacted by the low wage scum outsourcing companies. Please remember these companies, like an other company on earth, operate only on self interest. No point in supporting such companies which in adition to the self interest principle also flout rules with abandon.
4. In my opinion, self interest has alwyas resulted in the greater good of society. Do not confuse self interest with greed. Greed is what caused this financial mess. If people/companies operated with concern for greater societal good, they would have spent billions in concocting an AIDS vaccine for the children in Africa than to spend the same billions in concocting VIAGRA for the rich old men. Since employment based immigration debate involves companies' interests too, we have to balance societal good with some impact for the companies. My suggestion here is that let the outsourcers take the hit. They have always benefitted by flouting the rules. If your concern is way too high for your L1 brothers then you would find it prudent to bring in the law that clearly states "Pay high wages for the L1s or dont bring them in here". I dont understand what is wrong here ? Is it that I didnt convey my message across right or is it that people blindly support immigration ?

Recently I was on a flight from Delhi to Mumbai and the guy next to me was a former RBI employee. I asked him as to why the Indian govt. is not doing anything about the billions of USD left behind by Indians returning to India in the form of SSA and Medicare taxes, to which he replied that the obstacle to a treaty as stated by the US govt. is that India does not have a system comparable to Soc. Since they had already budgeted for the fiscal year and are on a spending freeze , it took a lot of convincing . The HR complied and gratefully we set out to get our Medical exams (at own cost of 150*2).Since we live in a small state with few doctors we drove 2 hours to a neighboring state to get them on time.
Being a mother of 3 small kids, I could not work on important paper works with them around. So after putting them to bed we spent the entire night pulling out the required documents from archives and placing them in order; numerous phone calls to parents back in India to collect their date of birth, place of birth information and completed the questionnaire.
Got passport pictures(60$) and mailed it all to our lawyers praying it will be one of the first to reach the department office on start of business on July 2nd.

Still, just because DOS told USCIS "Visas are exhausted" doesnt mean they should stop ACCEPTING new petitions. They can stop APPROVING new ones, but why stop ACCEPTING new petitions. Visa bulletins guide the filing as well as approval of petitions. If visa bulletins is current, then they can both accept and approve petitions.

Keemy this itself shows how intolerant you are . On one side you are trying to profess the cause of people from your community from a different country and on the other hand trying to denigrate people from another region from your own country .

Quota means a guaranteed number of visa for a country. For example if there is a 3% quota for monorities in college admissions, it guarentees 3% will go to minorities. There is no such quota for green card; only maximum limit a country can use. Even with this limit India captures more visas then any of the ROW countries.
Getting rid of quotas will help. We will not be in a situation where
- EB2 is current for ROW and unavailable for India.
- EB3 is in year 2005 for ROW and stuck in 2001 for India
Adding more visas is a legislative process. Applying per country quota is as
per DOL�s discretion.
