I don't think it is true. My lawyer said using AP will not invalidate H1B.
I have seen many people saying they came through AP and extended H1B , some even 3 times.
Anyway, I am travelling outside and planning to use my AP while coming back. I will post a message if I come through H1B

Canadian Border is like an hour nad half drive for me. I can drive up to border but i don't have a canadian visa. So i will be denied an entry and if i return back will i get a new I-94?

Generally when you are travelling by road to canada they do not issue new I-94s. You have to be in Canada for atlease a week or so to ask for a new I-94. I travelled on business few times. They never gave me new I-94s saying I have been there only for a night. I think, the I-94 attached to your H1 extension should be valid till that H1 expires.
Years ago(1999), my wife's I-94 expired, because at the airport the immigration office entered wrong date. We never verified. We were going by the H4 validity. After the expire date, I spoke my lawyer he was prepared to file for new I-94 but asked for 750USD. I went to the local immigration office in Boston and they corrected it without any issue.
Very recently as last week, we were coming from Canda after spending a week. We crossed the border by ferry, my wife's passport is due to expire in couple of months, her current I-94 is valid for 2 years. We told the office that we do not need a new I-94 and he was OK with that.
So check with the local immigration office, but only after getting a new passport.

Guysssssss N Gals , I got it (I-485 approval) 10 minutes ago!!!!!!!!!!! NO RFE. Recent Luds were on I-140 / I-129 / I-131 ( Luds occered on 10/29 & 11/4) . Been in USA (F1, H1) since Aug 1997.

You need to have your old I-140 approved to port PD to your new I-140. If the old 140 is not approved by the time you file you new 140...thats fine. At a later stage when your old 140 gets approved have your lawyer send a letter to the processing center with PD porting request for the new one. At that time your new 140 can be in processing stage.

I don't know much about Canada PR, but the 2nd option sounds good to me. Make sure your new employer is willing to give you a Joining Letter with the similar job responsibilities, job title, etc upon which your 485 is based.

My boss recently changed and the work environment is not good anymore (never imagined this would happen), I am in a constant pressure and no job security. It's a shocker in a fulltime state job.
We bought a house last year needless to say that the prices have fallen. We are now in a dazed state as we just realised we don't have any savings, whatever we had, we made bad choices - house, 2 cars (They looked good at that time though) and put about 10% on the house.
We were planning on to invest all our savings in the house as we recently paid off our two cars and no other debts. But after reading some posts here on the housing and investment market. I am not sure if I want to put everything in the house, having my job at risk and no GC yet.
Being a novice in fianancial matters, need advice.

That is not true about TSC. I applied about 5 weeks ago and did E-Filing. I got the receipts within a week but so far no updates and no LUDs on the receipt number also.

I filed mine on May 12 and sent to Phoenix Lock box and had the same issue. My checks are not cashed and am going through the same pain as you do. My lawyer suggested its not unusual to have these delays and it could take upto 4 weeks for the receipt notice to come. I am still tensed as the checks are not cashed and there is no receipt for the renewal. Please let me know how you are proceeding or find any new info
