I find it hard to digest why would they mind if some one has been to India recently?
Does this argument apply just for the indians or does it apply to individual of any nationality?
THey have eradicated malaria from north america whereas we still have it in India. They dont want us immigarants or wanna be immigrants to spread diseases!!

I am suprprised if IV is working towards abiltiy to file 485 and hard country limit...Just want to know how IV is working towards these 2 items...
If any of these two wont show out in coming bill,..then I would say goodbye to IV..because all other items in bill were there without IV;s interaction....
Can somebody calrify if these options will anyway include in this bill..by means of ammendements...
We have been fighting very hard to introduce a number of amendments including the ability to file I-485 and also to remove the country limit. We have spoken to a number of senators in this regard.
While we have no guarantees that they will be introduced, one thing I can guarantee, we will fight as hard as we possibly could.

From the above link: "Police say the suspect fits the description of a gunman who robbed another man earlier this morning on Michael Road, and shot him in the leg. The victim in that incident is expected to recover".
Indian news sites are saying the guy is dead! donno what to believe
The news item was posted on January 13th and it appears at that time the guy was only wounded in the leg. I think he was declared dead in the hospital.

Hi admin,
Can you please update the total contributions dollars in the 'contribute now' page? I think seeing the updated numbers, especially after you guys did an incredible job of signing a contract with the lobbying firm, might help some dormant (contribution wise) members.
Thanks.

If we have children, I would prefer to have them at home.
Interesting... someone doesn't like my post. Just wondering if it's those Anties?
Didn't think my suggestion was that good that it merit your attention ;)
Just so you know... I don't give two hoots for those red dots but thought I'll let you know: we're slow to get together but eventually we'll roll all over you :p

Looking at the trackkit data there are 2 from Nov 2003 and 1 from Dec 2003, who got green this month. Is it that USCIS doesn't have enough cases from before Oct 1 2003, to approve that are approvable.

There is another part in the I-131 rules document that you havent read,
"If you are in the United States and seek advance parole:
A. You may apply if you have an adjustment- of- status application pending and you seek to travel abroad for emergent personal or bona fide business reasons; "
which sorta makes any personal visit an eligible for AP visit.
Here is the relevant info from USCIS site (I-131 instructions)
Link (http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/I-131instr.pdf)
Advance parole is an extraordinary measure used sparingly to bring an otherwise inadmissible alien to the United States for a temporary period of time due to a compelling emergency. Advance parole cannot be used to circumvent the normal visa issuing procedures and is not a means to bypass delays in visa issuance.

I think its only 1 time amnesty to all aliens who were present 5 years from date of enactment of this law, if it becomes a law.
Sorry bro....they will not give amnesty to you. ammendments in bills will make sure that legal people like you and me are excluded from this amnesty. read my post above.....

My PD is April 2002 which has become current as per the june bulletin. My I-140 was approved in April 2007 and the NVC created the case on May 15th 2007.
I have opted for consular proceesing.
My questions is at what stage of the further processing do i get a visa number allocated ?
Is it when NVC sends the fee receipt to my attorney or is it when the case is transferred to the consulate ?
I just want to know at what stage now i become insulated from any possible retrogression in the coming months.
Any help much appreciated
thanks

Arizona type law should be passed by all the states. Dems should be out of office. All illigals including I -485 's in line should be kicked out.

I went through the Federal Firearm Law and here is what I found:
(d) It shall be unlawful for any person to sell or otherwise dispose of any firearm or ammunition to any person knowing or having reasonable cause to believe that such person
(5) who, being an alien
(A) is illegally or unlawfully in the United States; or
(B) except as provided in subsection (y)(2), has been admitted to the United States under a nonimmigrant visa (as that term is defined in section 101(a)(26) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1101 (a)(26)));
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(y) Provisions Relating to Aliens Admitted Under Nonimmigrant Visas.
(1) Definitions. In this subsection
(A) the term alien has the same meaning as in section 101(a)(3) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1101 (a)(3)); and
(B) the term nonimmigrant visa has the same meaning as in section 101(a)(26) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1101 (a)(26)).
(2) EXCEPTIONS: Subsections (d)(5)(B), (g)(5)(B), and(s)(3)(B)(v)(II) do not apply to any alien who has been lawfully admitted to the United States under a nonimmigrant visa, if that alien is:
(A) admitted to the United States for lawful hunting or sporting purposes or is in possession of a hunting license or permit lawfully issued in the United States;
(B) an official representative of a foreign government who is:
(i) accredited to the United States Government or the Government's mission to an international organization having its headquarters in the United States;or
(ii) en route to or from another country to which that alien is accredited;
101(a)(3) The term "alien" means any person not a citizen or national of the United States.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
101(a)(26) The term "nonimmigrant visa" means a visa properly issued to an alien as an eligible nonimmigrant by a competent officer as provided in this Act.
As per my understanding, if you are legally in the US, you can own a small firearm...walk into a store and tell them u need a gun and they will tell u what paper work you need or go to your local police station and ask the requirements. You can find out more details on NRA [national rifle association] website

If you are in the United States and seek advance parole:
A. You may apply if you have an adjustment- of- status application pending and you seek to travel abroad for emergent personal or bona fide business reasons;
we can come up with many excuses that would easily fall under "emergent personal or bona fide business reasons" category.
I thought we must get ready with some reasons, when using AP to re-enter US. I have come up with some of my own that I may use:
1) Grandpa or Grandma is sick (most common reason, perhaps no body uses it as a reason anymore)(bona fide personal reason)
2) Land dispute (bona fide business reason)
3) Parents home need urgent repair (bona fide business reason)
4) Water shortage problem (bona fide business reason)
