    One thing to realise is that direct point to point flights will take a while, and even then there is no guarantee that you will want to fly it because it may not be economical or convienient.

    And the absence of point-to-point flights has more to do with the airlines following a hub and spoke model than with any government restrictions. Point to point flights were identified as a core part of Boeing's product strategy only recently. The situation should improve over the next few years as airlines take delivery of new models, but until then we are stuck with the hub and spoke arrangement.

    • There are lots of ideas how to resolve the immigration problem. And this problem has many aspects. The retrogression/GC certification mess is just one of those problems and definitely not the biggest one of the bunch.

    If we want to help ourselves (i.e. GC applicants stuck in the backlog centers and retrogression trap), we have to have a clear strategy what to pursue and by what means. In opinion, there are two things which would be helpful to our cause in a short run:
    1. Representing our case to the American public via the mass media - one of the participants here clearly indicated that proper presentation of our case by 20/20, 60 min etc would be a great help.
    2. Launching a class law suit against the American government about return of Social Security funds to legal aliens who do not became permanent residents and leave the country. Regardless of the reason why they have left the country - this is their money !

    I am aware there is no enogh time to organize and complete both events before March 27th but it worth try. And it would be good if the idea of a class law suit "slips" away to the mass media and the lawmakers before this date. Money is a very powerful factor.

    And, btw, do not close yourselves in a "race-abused" group (Indians-Chinese-Filipinos) and do not draw a line between this "group" and the rest of the immigrants. It is big mistake - I am from a country that is not in this group and I feel that dividing people by their race is wrong. I am sure that many other like me think this way. Do not help the "race" issue grow, try to exstinguish it...

    • Recent approved 140s (i.e. sept 2006 or later) has A#. Not all Approved 140 has A#. So don't worry. Earlier applicants used to get A# after filing AOS. Still in AOS process, CRU[one dept of USCIS] will verify the written A# or assign new to each applicant.

    • Good suggestion, I didn't ask about EAD, I will check next time. But I guess evantually EAD would be revoked after I485 is denied. I think H1 is a backup plan if MTR denied and till appeal is decided..

    well, EAD is denied when MTR is denied, makes sense. But if you see the information posted by 'desi485' in this other thread (http://immigrationvoice.org/forum/showpost.php?p=302334&postcount=17), it may remain valid till validity. This is indeed confusing though. Please ask your lawyer and share with us everyone here.

    • Me and my wife had done finger printing on 09/10. On 09/15my wife got the clearnace from FBI and it is loaded into the system. I went to local immigration office and they did some searched and they told me that FBI loaded my finger printing detail using my social security number and not by the A number. Local IO can see the finger printing but when I called the Texas office they said they can't see the FP detail, and i tried again after some time got hold of another IO and she was able to search by my first and last name and saw in the system.

    I opened an SR got a response that my FP is not received from FBI. So confusion is some IO officer who is trying other option to do search are able to see but not all the IO and that is delaying my approval process.
    Any help or suggestion will be appreciated

    My wife filed for greencard in Oct 2006 under the Schedule A category where she filed for 140 and 485 concurrently.

    We got our EADs in November 2006. Later my company started my GC process(priority date is Nov 2006). I talked to my attorney about my 485 filing and she says that I should go ahead and file my application but only Adjustment of Status and not AP and EAD along with it. I should however give the reference of my earlier reciept numbers while filing my 485. My questions are:

    1. What happens if my wife's I-485 gets denied? How will this affect my I485 process and our EADs?

    2. We have not applied for AP and also didn't get our medical examination done when filing my wife's 485 application. Can I do these now when filing my 485?

    Please advise.
