  • Unfortunately this will never happen :(

Shouldn't take too long to port over to redsn0w. Does anyone remember how long it was last time? For 4.3.2? I think it was like 7-10 days

The only person with the source is I0n1c and he was out of the country last update so it took him some time to compile new binaries for the release (if needed).

This could also be why it's not patched yet - with no access to the source it's harder for Apple to reverse engineer the exploit and discover what they are doing. With a need to get the update out so fast they probably didn't bother. I expect it to be in the next patch though.....

  • Interesting update, for those that care/may be wondering. As a test, I grabbed a 2 GB Ram stick from my laptop and placed it in one of the free slots on my iMac. Computer now reports 6 GB RAM installed, but the 2 x 2GB already installed now underclock to 1067. It seems that Ram will always run as fast as the slowest installed. Still, 6 GB @ 1067 has to be better than 4 GB @ 1333, right?

  • You do not get it. I never had any intention of deleting these files with out knowing what they were. This is why I created a thread entitled, "Safe to delete these files" hoping that someone here would know what they were. If my thread was called, "Is it a good idea if I delete these files even though I have no idea what they are" then your help would be greatly appreciated.

  • I have been trying to download iTunes for mac, for a reinstall, since late yesterday. None of the links I have found work. Either they don't exist, or they are being redirected by Apple's site to the apple.com/startpage. Any way to let Apple know their links are not working and that iTunes is unavailable for download?

  • byteSizeOfElement is wrong. Your code will only work (if all other bugs are fixed) with 64 bit code, not with 32 bit code.
Using the result of memcpy is being too smart for your own good.

  • Its also the buggiest thing on the OS, it disables typing after a few minutes, doesnt want to load web pages some times, and everytime you skip around in a flash video it starts it as a new download without killing the old one meaning youll end up with a bunch of FLV's being downloaded at the same time killing your bandwidth and having your video stopped on sites that dont allow multiple connections.

  • So yesterday I happened across these and bought them on a whim.

I've seen a lot of people gripe about these, including and not limited to iLounge, etc. citing how terrible they are because they don't give you access to controls, protect against drops, etc. I can't help but wonder why people would even criticize them for that, when they were so obviously not designed to be a full on case.

They are a pouch for your iPod, simple as that. For the purpose they are intended, they are wonderful.

The reason I bought them was because I used to never use cases, I would always just put my iPods on a lint free cloth on my desk and never let them touch hard surfaces to avoid scratching. Some time ago, I finally decided I loved SwitchEasy's hard plastic case lines, and swear by them. Unfortunately, for a couple of my iPods, they predate SwitchEasy, or the products simply aren't available and I can't find others I like. Additionally, even though the hard cases I have are great, I'm still uneasy throwing them in a pocket or a bag with lots of other stuff knocking around, so even with a case, I think a little pouch serves a purpose. So I decided to give the socks a whirl.

The quality is great, as to be expected, albeit overpriced. I gave the pink one to my wife for her pink nano 5G, so I just have five. Fresh out of the box:

From left to right, tucked neatly inside--5.5G, mini, nano 5G (nano is in a SwitchEasy CapsuleThin case):

Here you can see the 7G classic, with the SwitchEasy Capsule Classic case, still fits nicely inside:

One thing you will notice in the picture above--you can see little specks of shiny metal, that is the iPod you can see inside. A lot of people complain that these socks scratch their iPods, but I think what's happening is that little pieces of dust get inside and rub against the iPod. However, without the SwitchEasy case, you can not see these little specks of iPod as the case isn't stretches enough.

These fit very well with the iPods I have, and thus far don't seem to stretch much, if at all. They contract quickly as soon as you pop the Classic out, though that may change long term. The nano 5G, in a case, inside the sock, feels great. The mini feels perfect. I don't know how the nano 5G would feel without the case, possibly a little loose.

    My thoughts:

    --High quality
--Perfect for traveling/transporting iPods in a purse/bag/suitcase amidst other things
--They do NOT scratch the iPod, at least the fabric itself doesn't
--Great supplementary travel protection to be used alongside cases/films
--Fit well over many iPods, including the bulky Classic when it's in a case

--Possibly could get dust inside which may scratch against an unprotected iPod if you plan on using these everyday as main/primary protection

Would buy again for my needs. I mainly bought them to protect one iPod that never gets used (in other words it will just sit in the sock on my desk more or less) and another iPod that lives in my SoundDock, that may occasionally need to travel. I mainly bought these socks for travel transportation for all of my iPods, and I think they will work excellent that way. I probably wouldn't use them as sole protection on an iPod I use all the time, taking it in and out constantly, and taking it everywhere--but I would use it everyday so long as the iPod is in another case inside. For your needs, they may work well, or they may be completely pointless. In the end, they are a basic pouch that do their job wonderfully, IMO.

I'll update the post after a few weeks if anything strange starts happening, but right now i'm happy. 25 and it does what i want, and i didnt have to install any drivers on my PC.. awesome..

  • I have a Monoprice adapter that DID NOT carry audio, just video to my TV from my i5 2.4 MBP. You have the same generation MBP, albeit a 2.53, so your mac has that ability.

I ended up picking this adapter from Amazon:
This one will carry audio & video. Works perfectly and looks pretty cool too. Not as cheap as monoprice, but does the job.

  • Nice noob response. :p Anyone who regularly listens to music uses playlists and rotates the music from their computer to their iPods. At any one time, no one is going to listen to their entire 20GB worth of music. They are more likely to use smart playlists and shuffle among them.
coming from someone who listens to music almost constantly, i have to disagree. i have a 20+ GB library and i make playlists based on the entire library. in other words they wouldn't fit on a nano. i like hearing a mix of my favorites along with new stuff.

  • Not yet because I actually use my iPad during the week. I'll try that over the weekend. I just can't believe I am the only one having this problem.

Why? Stuff like that happens to people all the time. Just because you're having a problem doesn't mean it's a widespread one. Besides, if it had been a widespread one, you wouldn't have had to ask. There would have been numerous posts on this already.

I'm sure you'll figure it out soon.

  • The first thing you need to confirm is that the logo is indeed in vector form when you open it in Illustrator and not just a bounding box indicating pixel-based art.

Toggle the keyboard shortcut Command + Y or go to the pulldown menu View > Outline (or alternatively Preview) to view your art in both modes.

If you have actual vector art, then check the following...

    • Pulldown menu Window > Layers - are there any locked layers?

    • Pulldown menu Object - is Unlock All in black? That would indicate an object has been locked.

Those would be two things to check.

Ok so do you guys think they would increase the amount of batteries in the keyboard?

I'm aware that it wouldn't be a very apple thing to do, but what do you think?

yeah, but it is plugged in- it's usually a desktop situation...

Updated to version 1-1: Final correction. I repositioned the computer display to a better location which I wanted to do for quite a while and I also raised the level of the grids on the floor a little bit cause they were a tad too low.

Now the 3 variants that I did (I did an Apple an Atari and also an Amiga version of this design with different colors and illumination) have the computer display in the same position. These are the updated links (well actually only the direct link to the file in Mediafire changes):

    Direct link Deviantart:

Either way Apple is going strong and the potential for iPhone (and Apple gadgets) and Mac OS X to move forward are huge.

Yeah, Apple's gadgets. What about... oh, I don't know... their COMPUTERS?

Specifically the Mac Pro and Mac Mini. So much potential there.

Okay. Maybe I am too daft to fully understand you.

Can't you right click on the ODD icon in Windows Explorer?

Are both Option keys not working? Have your tried another external USB keyboard? Even a Windows keyboard will work.
And to be absolutely sure, and so I understand correctly, as this is new to me, you were able to eject any optical media inside the ODD by just pressing the OPTION key during the boot process into Windows (after you restarted the Mac and chose to boot Windows)?

If you have successfully installed the Windows drivers from the Mac OS X DVD, then you can use the Boot Camp Utility in the Task Bar to restart into Mac OS X.

What i meant is that I used to start with the option key and thereafter pressing the eject button.(When they show the different drivers)The option keys do work but they are locked.(Firmware password locked)Thats why I'm asking whether theres an alternative way to get the disk to eject apart from attempting to eject from Windows Explorer. If there is I might be able to prevent screwing up my mac incase I cant install the drivers.
