Well, I can tell you that whoever flew in/ drove in/ walked 4 miles between noon and 2:30pm is convinced of the need for an organized and peaceful battle against the unfair and broken green card process. The 1000 souls that showed up on that day, besides those who pitched in any way to help them, will find sending webfaxes and meeting their lawmakers (locally) to be a piece of cake. Once that happens, things can only get better for us as a community!

What you are saying I understand. And many american/GC holders work as independent contractors on 1099. But H1B is never designed for independent contractor (1099). H1B is designed as W2. By using percentage basis H1B consultants are trying to work like independent contractor on 1099. USCIS is trying to crack down on that.

Yes the notice (I was mentioning) and the receipt number are the same. If you apply for MTR and you receive the SRC number you can continue to work. If the decision is positive your case will be put back to pending status else you need to get back to your lawyer to determine the future course of action.

Yes the notice (I was mentioning) and the receipt number are the same. If you apply for MTR and you receive the SRC number you can continue to work. Many here are getting confused between PPF ( public providend fund) and CPF in India. CPF is a company specific like 401 K. When you leave or resign, you transfer the money to your new employer or leave it back with the old company and the interest rate given is according to the RBI prevailing interest rate. You do not have to deal with any agency other than your employer to manipulate this money.
PPF is for self employed and well for salaried people and this account can be created in a Post Office or a State Bank of India District Office. I have had accounts in PPF and CPF and never had to pay a rupee to get any of that money or to draw a loan..!
Growing economies have their own set of challenges, so please do not trash the system if you faced challenges in the past, things are changing fast and changing for the good in the developing world. Remember what a nightmare it was to get your railway reservation done? Now , I buy my rail as well as air line tickets sitting right here in USA while I plan my trip.
Now coming back to the point of Social Secuirty, you might refer to the agreements that US has with countries like UK where the actual money contributed to the retirement fund does not get trasferred but credit is given in one's own country for retirement benefits and the final fund transfer takes place between the goverments at the end of the year based on a formula ( This forumla is adjusted based on various economic factors). It works both ways for UK and US citizens as there is a great deal of personnel working cross country.

It does not make any sense to send a new offer letter with AC21 unless you know the right job title or job description.

In my earlier post, I dint mean to say that all Kinkos are bad, its just the particular one near me was not good enough. The photos were as if they were taken with a yellow filter on their lenses.
Sears did a very good job instead.
You can just tell them that you need photos for passport. They are the same requirements
Think it this way, your photo might be scanned by their machine to be printed on visa/notice. If the photo is not of good quality it might get pixelated after they scan.
So be your own judge, think if you were in USCIS shoes and had to scan a photo and produce it on visa/stamp. They might also use some image recognition softwares for which they require exact speicifications.
In my case the yellow tinge I got from kinkos exactly matches with the improper color on the website below. So i had to go for other option
