u'll get RFE only if theres is a mistake in medicals, if there is NO medicals in the 485 packet, i think ur appln will be outright sent back.
whats ur PD, if its in the range of 2000 u still have hope that in next few months ur date becoems eligible for AOS.

If ur case is genuine, may be someone will be merciful to help u out of ur predicament.

last year my friend visited india...he is on 7the year H1, and got 3 yrs extn based on 140. he had attached copy of approved 140 as proof...the chennai visa officer only asked him "is ur company paying for ur GC or you urself" ..he answered Company is paying full amount. and they gave him the visa. :-) if Govt is using approved 140 to give 3 yrs extn, obviously they know the intent to get GC...i dont believe telling truth that ur company is processing GC for you is going to harm you.

Since the revalidation in US is stopped in 2004, i did not go to India until i received my AP in 2007. This is because i know couple of friends (brothers) who were stuck in India for almost 3 months when they went for marriage in 2005. So i decided not to take the risk. I went to India in 2008 and returned back on AP.
Now i cannot use AP anymore because my I140 was denied by USCIS. This is for sure an error by USCIS. In the denial letter they said my company applied for X number of green cards which is not true. Green cards applied by the company are too low compared to the number provided by the USCIS. My appeal is pending at AAO. Urgency of getting a receipt is that once you get the receipt, it means that USCIS has 'accepted' your application and it will not be rejected for lack of initial evidence.
You can track it by checking your bank account too. You checks will be cashed first before you get the receipt.

I guess, other then marriage certificate, wedding photographs, wedding card invitation & property papers on joint name & other investments on joint name might help. I know that wedding photos & wedding invitation card does help to an extent.
Whoa, now be careful what you say there tiger. Outsourcing has nothing to do with the H-1B program, if everyone followed the law. Then people wouldn't be in America, underpaid or on the bench. American companies outsourcing to India etc. is happening. Everyoe is entitled to an opinion on whether that is right or not. But BREAKING THE LAW BY ENTERING THE COUNTRY ON AN H-1B ON FALSE PREMISES is simply illegal, and has nothing to do with the issue of outsourcing. Two different things.

FYI: USCIS does not charge for Visa Lottery... It's FREE.

Can i change my job from a biological researcher to a biostatistician? My current job is in the field of biology, which involves lots of experiments. If I change my job to a biostatistician, which is like a programmer, do i still qualify the "similar filed" rule? thanks for your help!

I would think coming from MI, a state that has one of the highest unemployment, and the relief that the auto industry got - it continues to exist because of those liberal fiscal policies.
Besides, his being liberal fiscally/socially has nothing to do with our issues. He is probably the best ally for our issue in the democratic circle...
Cannot agree more, I find it idiotic we blaming someone because they are liberal in something. Most of us come from a country where 90% of the time "corrupt" is the only way we can define politicians. Listening to talking heads on TV shows and parroting the same crap sounds stupid. The environment right now is not conductive to any kind of immigration bill unless done in very absolute secret. This is a lame duck session,no one knows what will happen after 2 years.
Someone was talking about distinguishing between illegal and legal, yes but once they start digging in deeper we have the dreaded "H1B". Hopefully the economy continues to improve ,due to so-called liberal policies, and we have better job market and public sentiment improves. Don't know if IV has any strategic plan for this time frame.
BTW, Someone blaming a president for being liberal socially when they are the smallest minority in the country is absolutely stupidly mind boggling!!!

Receipting is not done by VO and the staff who do receipting follow certain procedures.
USCIS mailroom has certain protocols and thats why even our AC21 documentation does not reach file.
Files are distributed to different officers and they work on the files.
Without a receipt number you cannot track your MTR.
Talk to a very good Attorney on further course of action.
I filed MTR - my 485 was denied because the officer ignored the AC21 job change. When I called customer service and explained - I was transferred to a VO and when I explained it, she requested me to file an appeal so that I don't have to pay instead f MTR.
When I talked to Attorney - she said "Don't do that - when your MTR gets receipted, you can track it but cannot track an appeal"
Remember MTR = if USCIS makes a mistake - MTR costs $$
Appeal = if you want AAO to consider various factors on a correctly interpreted denial and appeal to see if you can convince.
