  • I bought a white iPhone 4 and have been disappointed in it's reception compared to my old black one. However call quality is great and the proximity sensor is 1000x better. I'm thinking about swapping it for another one but I'm not convinced anything is really wrong with it.

  • [edit: looks like bwawn beat me to it, and his way of doing it is probably better unless you have Terminal-ophobia ;)]

Firstly (and obviously) make sure Classic isn't running.

Also, did you try logging in as root? If you don't have a root account, it's pretty simple to create one using NetInfo Manager (in your Applications-->Utilities folder).

If you got your Mac in 2002 or earlier, you can start up from an OS 9 CD, and I'm pretty sure you could delete the 9 system folder from there, without having to deal with OS X permissions and such.

    Good luck.

  • Hey guys. I currently have the 2009 iMac. Since last 2months ago i needed to run a program 24/7 for a big project. i checked istate today and it said that the uptime was 40 days

This is AWESOME!! I can safely say you cannot achieve this with a windows machine:D

so tell me guys...what's your uptime XD

  • Is there any way I can change from discrete to the integrated graphics on Windows 7? I know how to do this on OS X but can't figure this out on Windows, if there is a way. Upon startup, I am not able to go into the bios because of bootcamp. Is there any other way to do this?

  • The Macbook is the low end Mac laptop. Its great for productivity, etc. However I would suggest getting a high end imac 27" with the 1GB ATI video chip for gaming. I don't do much gaming anymore, but its the video card, or video chip that makes most of the difference when it comes to good graphics.

I know that the Mac Books do not do well with heavy graphics, and were never meant to be gaming machines. Laptops in general were never really meant for gaming as is. The mac Book pro may be a better choice as far as laptops go.

If you run windows through Boot Camp, you will have no problems that you wouldn't experience on any windows machine. Like crashing, freezing and needing to shut down and reboot from sleep, viruses that never stop coming, and all the other wonderful things that go with Windows.

If you want great gaming experiences go buy a PS3, there set up just for that.

  • I had a "stock" dual 533MHz G4 w/512MB RAM and it ran great - I ripped/burned backup DVDs, ripped my CDs with iTunes, made my own DVDs with iMovie/iDVD, played Diablo II and a little Call of Duty. etc. etc. it did everything except the games perfectly - Halo and Call of Duty really needed a faster machine.

Now that I've added all the stuff in my sig that same G4 hums along nicely - I can run everything I want to run.

  • I haven't pre-ordered, but at this point do you think it will make any difference. I plan on heading to the Apple store at 6:00 am or so.

I reserved mine and I still plan on getting to the Apple store about 5-6am on Fri. :)

  • You're talking about product packaging? As in you're expected to take the packaging of a currently selling product and redesign it?

Hmm, I'd maybe take a look at the packaging for MagicJack. I've thought it was really poorly designed.

  • Ok so do you guys think they would increase the amount of batteries in the keyboard?

I'm aware that it wouldn't be a very apple thing to do, but what do you think?

Currently the batteries take up about half of that little cylinder shape at the top. If they really squeezed they could put 4 batteries instead of two in there... But that would still only last 4-7 days tops.

  • Has anyone here chipped their Wii's yet ?

I'm thinking of getting mine chipped to save alot of money and import my wii games from the USA.

It will also mean I'm not waiting months for the pal version to arrive. (Still no trauma centre)

I hoped Datel would have released a wii freeloader - but it's not looking likely according to folks over on the code-junkies forums.

Has anyone experience of this - and whats the general consensus ? too early ? too unreliable ?

  • Might be there for 5 or 6 AM. Have a full day of work that starts at 9 AM and includes going out of town in the afternoon. Can't be sure I'll be up and alert enough to go later in the evening to pick-up. Plus it looks like fun

Same here, leaving on a flight at 2:30, but I don't have to work (I'm a grad student). I was hoping I could show up at 7 am and wait however long it takes and get the phone and still make my flight. I am guessing I don't have to stay up overnight to do that, and hopefully I can still meet cool Mac people.

  • Apple made it clear last year in August that they were not going to have any new hardware at the Paris Expo (2001). They most likely will do the same again this year.

BTW, when is the expo? Seriously...

If there isn't going to be new hardware, then, ladies and gentlemen, let's take a look at the software department. There is the possibility of iCal and iSync to follow up to iPod OS 1.2 and Jaguar, along with the possibility of an iMovie/FCP update. I would pay close attention to a possible iPhoto 2 at Paris, though, as I think it will provide the option to load specific pics, instead of just dumping everything on your camera onto your computer.

    Hi all,
Just incase anyone stumbles across this thread when they are having similar issues I wanted to post an update.

It sounds so simple but I think my wake issues may have actually just been down to weak batteries in my keyboard.

After 10.6.7 some people were reporting that they were getting the wrong battery life metering for wireless devices. Some people had their power levels stuck at 100% even though the batteries had previously been showing 50% depletion before updating to 10.6.7

My keyboard was showing 46% yesterday but I thought to eliminate the possibility of the mac pro waking due to a lost keyboard connection due to weak batteries, I changed them out for fresh batteries.

My mac went to sleep last night and slept the whole night, until I woke it this morning.

I'll try it again later but I'm pretty certain that's all it was.

Oh well, at least I've got a freshly installed OS and clean running machine now, even though all I actually needed to do was swap some batteries! :)

It seems weird that the trial version contains advertisements. I would think the trial would be the same as the full version. Anyway, did you get it to work with FaceTime on 4.3.2? I haven't been able to get it to work since updating, and was wondering if I was alone with this problem.

I actually never actually used it while I had it installed, was a just in case thing as my gf recently bought an iPad 2 plus I'm still on 4.3.1 as I have LockInfo setup just how I want it and can't be bothered with the upgrade right now.

    Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_2 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8H7 Safari/6533.18.5)

Out of curiosity, how much did you pay for it?

I'm waiting to see if it's region free.

I plan on buying one from Play-asia with Dance Central, Kinectimals, Joy Ride & Kinect Sports as Asian version is only 28 as opposed to 50 here. USA version's are region free - so I'm hopeful.

Though i also bought Playstation Move = that's pretty much doing nothing with my Wii for company at the moment.

to me the PS3 move is just the same as the Wii remote but with a camera instead of sensors.
