The maximum duration of a J-1 is 7 years but the visa is issued 1 year at a time (royal pain). Therefore there is nothing such as a transfer. When residency is over, if you get a fellowship the program files with ECFMG the necessary papers to prove that it's an accredited program etc It is ECFMG that sponsors you not your program/hospital. Each year the program informs ECFMG on your progress and based on that a new sponsorship for another year is granted.
After my first fellowship i was board certified. In order to specialize further I (and my new department) had to convince ECFMG that there was some merit in the whole proposal. anyway long story, they did sponsor me and I did another 2 years thus completing the entire 7 year period.
As for GC, my employer just started the process and insisted on choosing an expensive corporate lawyer they have worked with before. She is in no hurry and I don't know when I will even have a priority date let alone a GC. This is after 11 years here. such fun....

I have this basic question. How would USCIS know that he had used EAD for the second job? As far as I know, the information submitted in I-9 doesn�t go to USCIS. During the H1 extension if he submits W2�s, Paystubs and all documents from the H1 employer alone, wouldn�t it get approved? Can anyone clarify this?

2) Shifted to H-1B and i have been with the same client and havent been to India for four years.
3) Now i am doing part time MBA from a top Ivy league school and i have $40,000 in loans from my MBA. i have not finished it as yet.
4) Applied for labor and priority date is Jan 2007 and i wanted to apply for 1-485 and AP and Skip H-1B stamping
But because of the july 2nd i cant do that anymore and i will have to go to H-1B stamping. I wonder what will happen if my stamping gets rejected. If dont attend classes for 4 months. My student loan will start asking for monthly payments. I am in a quagmire.
But still i have decided that i will go to India in any case and if payments become overdue for more months. I dont know what to do.

This would not help much of ppl waiting in EB3 with PD earlier than Nov 2006 bcoz it takes only 10,000 of their queue. But it really helps the ppl with PD > 2006.
Also it depends on whether 7% country limit is applicable. It would help RoW better than retrogressed countries.
In either case, it is a win-win situation for EB3 India 61,000 * .07 = 4270. Still it is worth of about 1 yr worth of EB3 visas for retrogressed countries.

When AP is approved, you get 3 copies. I went twice on intl trips and each time they took a copy. I am left with 1 copy of the AP.
Now I need to go on one last intl trip (I have applied for renewal). I just have one copy of AP with me.
How does it work? Will the officer just stamp the AP and make a copy?

The question is, did you earn any money at all in 2007? The information you provided is a bit vague, in one place you say you received paychecks till December 15 2007, in another place you say you did not get paid in 2007. It is simple really, if you did not earn any money in 2007, then you do not have to add your W2 to your tax returns. If you did earn money in 2007, then the company has to supply you with a W2.
Of course, not earning any money in 2007, while keeping you okay with respect to the IRS, might get you in trouble with the USCIS.

Let us boycott CNN to protest the unjust presentation of immigrants in their news. I can't comprehend why a big and reputable network would support a show like Lou Dobbs. Lou dobbs and his minions has been spreading lies and hate about legal immigration. The sad part is that the ordinary American would believe them since they are part of a big network, CNN -- supposedly a moral and ethical news company driven to tell the truth and expose injustice. Everyday we try hard to be a good citizen, build a good reputation, and work hard for the betterment of this country but everyday too, Lou Dobbs and his panel of experts ruins everything that we have gained. We cannot ignore this negative publicity anymore. I used to watched CNN ASIA and truly believe that they were the best international network -- they were fair and unbiased in their reporting. But CNN US seems to be a different animal, their seems to be an underlying current of hate hiding and pretending to be patriotic. So, I would like to ask IV core to add this to IV's strategy. Let us spread the word that CNN/Lou Dobbs is anti-immigrant and should not be patronized. Tell your friends and family and let them spread the word. We should also boycott all CNN-related companies i.e Time, CNN ASIA, etc. since they are part of the same animal. Sorry to hear about your problem with the D70...
I don't know anything in detail about D70, as I'm a Canon man myself...
But some general thoughts and ideas:
1. From the behaviour, I would think that something has gone wrong with either the RAM or the ROM(flash) in the camera. This would cause a similar thing to a "Blue Screen of Death" that you get on a PC sometimes when something has gone wrong somewher. In a machine like a digital camera, the most sensible thing to do to try to recover is to "reboot", or put another way, reset the camera.
2. It is possible that it's just a "transient problem". Have you tried removing the battery for a longer period of time (at least half an hour), and also, if there is a small battery for keeping the time when changing batteries etc. (don't know if the D70 has one, the Canon ones does), you may want to remove that too to be sure that the camera is "properly powered off". This may of course reset some of your personal settings and definitely should reset the time/date in the camera, but I'm sure you can live with that.
3. It may be possible to "reprogram the flash" using the standard procedure for updating the firmware in the camera. *** I would only do this as a "last ditch attempt" ***. I don't know how this is done, but I'm pretty sure there is a way to load a new set of firmware onto the camera some way. But if it's the RAM that is broken, this may cause the firmware update to fail and that may cause even worse scenario than what you've got, so I would only do that if you think that "Things can't get much worse". This is akin to a PC being re-installed from scratch. Like the PC case, it doesn't actually help much if the actual cause of the problem isn't the software/firmware itself. Don't blame ME if this doesn't help, and it makes things worse!
I hope some of this is of help, if nothing else, to understand what the problem is.
If it really is the RAM that is busted, it's probably going to be fairly expensive, as I don't expect the repairer will replace the individual parts, but rather just swap the whole PCB, which means "all the guts of the camera".
If, on the other hand, it's just the flash that's gone crazy, then it's most likely just a question of "factory programming it", which would be a relatively trivial operation, and shouldn't cost much to fix.

The first thing for 485 approval is that your PD is current. If you PD is not current but the processing is complete because of the pre-adjucation , you still will not get 485 approval aka GC
But if you PD is current, that whoever has there process (name check, biometrics et al) complete, they would get their GC before ppl with older PD if they are are still in processing queue.
Offcourse there is another thing that comes in to play and that is the per country quota :eek:
