There are two different things. (i) Intention to commit immigration fraud by mis-representing facts; (ii) Intention to immigrate.

I had my I140 approved too and had mentioned it in my application. They dont bother you. They however gave me 221g to verify student status and delayed my visa for two weeks. Interview was less than 2 mins and the vo said she had to verify student status thats it.

I am told that H1 can be transferred only with in 10 days-20 days or so. which means that it is already a month. so in case if I dont get the h1 or if I have an issue in the H1 transfer, is that the end of my being H1.

I have similar situation - I applied for 140 in July 2006. My daughter will turn 21 in July 2007. As I have applied for 140 before she turns 21, she is safe for GC, but will loose H4 status when she turns 21. As per my lawyer's advice I have applied for her F1 so that she can stay and continue her studies in US. When I become eligible to apply for 485, she can be included in the application - but, not as a dependent of H1B holder.

I would suggest not to risk renewing your passport in India just because you don't know if you would get stuck for some odd reason or another or not. As many have already posted on this thread - do it in the US if you have the time. I did my passport renewal from the SFO office a couple years ago and it was a simple straightforward process by mail (2-3 weeks).

People i know that we need to raise money and quickly, but this is really not the way to go about it. Everyone needs a vacation to recharge their batteries and spend quality time with their families. The GC is a "MEANS to the END", NOT "The END". Going by this logic, lets not do anything for the next 2-3 years. Lets not buy houses, cars, furniture etc. Lets instead contribute to IV. I would love to take the lead with this project. I have done a fund raising initiative for Arthritis Foundation of America when I ran the Mardi Gras Marathon in honor of my mom. I raised $1,100 in a 6 month period for the AFA. The idea I have is that Team IV members will participate at their local events and we should pick 3 national events such as the Chicago Marathon/Half Marathon, the Breakers 10K (is that San Diego?) and even the Crescent City Classic 10K right here in my hometown. Team IV should be well represented at these 3 national events.
Team IV members can set up an e-mail support group when training for any events. There are numerous on-line training guides which we can use. And I can also look into the idea of an on-line training coach.
I already have the committment from 4 friends, all of whom are US Citizens, to join this Team because they support our cause.
