    fundo14 - how long has it been since it was transfered to the Des Moines office? Have you called and spoken to an IO about this change?

    Almost a month now. Last Soft LUD was 5/20/08. nothing after that.

  • Just talked to an IO. My case was filed between July 3rd and 15th at Nebraska. I didn't get the receipt # , but the IO gave it to me over phone. Surprise surprise!! The case was transferred to california service center and my rcpt is a WAC number instead of a LIN number!!

    For example, check: wac0725850164

    That's why NSC is compliant, but people haven't received notices.

    I hope this reduces some FUD. If you do not find this info useful, move on!!

    I propose a scheme where people, when posting some information that's not speculative, prefix the subject with [NS] (Non-speculation). That will help in figuring out which threads to ignore.

    i do not want to spoil your happiness by providing the following link. Please make sure that your case was approved when the priority date for you was current. Go through the following link to understand more and take necessary action.

    if 485 gets approved when priority date is not current we need to notify uscis and they will change our status back to aos. If we do not report this, it could create problems in future. The above link provides detailed information.

    I believe your priority date is current as of the approval date.

  • We got our EAD in the mail today - We are late June filers (29th June) and got our receipt numbers last week, - I have some q's-

    -Can one get EAD without completing FInger printing? In the finger priniting colum on the EAD it says - not available, Would that matter?
    -How does one activate his/her EAD?
    -Have any other late june filers already got their EAD?

    A1: No.
    A2: You have to fill out form I-9 with your employer.
    A3: Yes, several have got them. Check the "Late June Filers" thread.

  • With a big questions mark on its cash position and a minimum outgo on salary estimated at Rs 500 crore a month, Satyam may lay off over 10,000 employees next month, says a recruitment firm.

    "It is most likely that Satyam will cut 10,000 jobs next month as the company is left with no cash to pay the salaries. The current fiasco is likely to put pressure on salaries, which may reduce by 10 per cent due to the surplus of about 20,000 people in the jobs market," Headhunters India CEO Kris Lakshmikanth said.

    Satyam interim CEO Ram Mynampati while admitting that the cash position is not encouraging, the company, however, has taken care of salary for December. Lakshmikanth said till Tuesday evening there were about 7,800 people from Satyam who had posted their resumes on job sites and by Wednesday afternoon, it has gone up to 14,000.

    The uncertainty about jobs is killingly painful for the 53,000 employees of Satyam, especially when the industry is going slow on recruitment. Further, possibility of a takeover too looks distant as the accounting fraud done by the company would make it difficult for any firm to evaluate its correct market value, which is compounding the worries of the employees.

    IT-BPO union Unites Professionals general secretary Karthik Shekhar said, "In case of any lay off at Satyam, we may take legal action." "We have received over 7,000 hits since the news break.

    On Wednesday, in one hour we have seen over 800 hits (no of people visiting the site) from Hyderabad. People have been enquiries on how the union can help them," Shekhar added.

    People calling the USCIS Customer Service for EAD (90 days) always get an answer that it is from Notice Date. We know it is from Receipt date, not notice date.

    Anyway, as I was saying, it is your path. I have chosen mine.

  • I would strongly suggest to not to put your application jeopardy because what you are trying to get merge into is entirely and absolutely a different job function and you will be carrying heavy weight of questions by the concerned authority as it by no means or ways match the work what you are into currently.

    It will highly likely attract the concentration. Also, I dont think the title or work of "recruiter" is a highly skilled work which the autorities will, if and for any LCA, approve as such. You dont need to be highly skilled for it. College pass outs people can do that. This much is enough for your understanding and rest is what you decide eventually.

    I am getting married in the 1st week of Sep and am planning to get my spouse by mid Sep.

    Can someone please suggest if I am fine, if I apply alone for I-485 around Jul30(and not for EAD and AP??) and add my spouse around sep20th. I-140 approval is pending and have a valid visa till '08.

    How long does it take for the I-485 'approval' and is 2-3 months a safe window to add ones spouse?

    Any suggestions and help with my planning are greatly appreciated. :)

    1) Does one have to be physically present in the US to apply for I-485? Can I send the marriage certificate and any other papers reqd from both of us in Sep 1st week from India (hopefully PD would be current)

    2) Is it just the marriage cert that is reqd for filing I-485 together. Assuming I am here and have the marriage cert, can I apply for my spouse even if she is in India.

    He/she didn't mean to say that NOT GETTING any receipt is good as long as you get your EAD.

  • My boss recently changed and the work environment is not good anymore (never imagined this would happen), I am in a constant pressure and no job security. It's a shocker in a fulltime state job.

    We bought a house last year needless to say that the prices have fallen. We are now in a dazed state as we just realised we don't have any savings, whatever we had, we made bad choices - house, 2 cars (They looked good at that time though) and put about 10% on the house.

    We were planning on to invest all our savings in the house as we recently paid off our two cars and no other debts. But after reading some posts here on the housing and investment market. I am not sure if I want to put everything in the house, having my job at risk and no GC yet.

    Being a novice in fianancial matters, need advice.
    Appreciate your thoughts on this.

    Sorry to here the precarious condition you are living in. Try to be good to the person who is causing the pressure, cause most important of all right now is: You need the income. So, fighting with somebody is not a good idea and its going to hurt you, not the other person who is causing the pressure.

    If the price of the house has fallen a lot, then its not a good idea to keep paying for the original price of the house. Talk to the bank, and ask what options you have.

    Be prepared for the worst case scenario and start saving so that you have some buffer to make payments for at least 6 months, in case you lose your job.

  • I agree this is not easy, but in past IV CORE was successful when they convinced CIS to come out with revised visa bulletin in July 2007. Other successes include 2 year EAD and 29 months OPT etc. If we all support, this may also be possible. Atleast having an official procedure and forms for AC21 will be really good.

    well, as most replies say, having an official procedure would greatly benefit particularly important due to recent spate of I485 denials in AC21 cases (http://immigrationvoice.org/forum/showthread.php?t=22182). Can we include demand for an official form (preferably with some token fees) for AC21?

    No According to my lawyer I-140 is employers petition. I-485 is your petition. You have not demonstrated immigrant intent if your employer files I-140.
