was anyone able to get the search feature on their 5th gen ipods ? or where able to get the new games playable ? it didn't work for me.. nor was i able to get the search feature .. this is what i get when i connect my ipod
the search function seems to only be for the new ipods.
games work, though.. you just have to go to Ipod Games in the source list (if it's not in the source list, you need to enable it in Preferences), double click a game, enter your Apple ID and password.. it'll authorize, and then be able to sync to the ipod.

Wonderful post! So the more "professional" editors we see getting "pissy" means the opposite of what one might think.
You mean i can't add unlimited tracks as i need to make my timelines look so complex that my clients quiver in the awesomeness of my brilliance.
The point that everyone is trying to make is that the end result is based on skill and telling the story. FCP may help that but a retard using FCP will make no better of a film than using movie maker.

As someone said earlier... Come Together. That's my bet.

Am I the only one who likes the needler?
The regular old Needler is fine, and there are plenty of them laying around, so replenishing ammo is fine. I just prefer the headshot-capable weapons myself. I LOVE the new Needle Rifle. It is better than the DMR, in my opinion. One of my buddies though, loves the regular Needler, like you do. He doesn't care how well or not it kills enemies, he just has a riot using it. Which is all that matters.

It's really amazing to see here people justifying the price of Windows Vista, when not even corporations think about migrating to the "new" OS in 2-years time...Vista is just a rehashed NT, and no company will need it in the short term.
Agreed wholeheartedly; I worked for FedEx Kinkos for 5 years. On a corporate level - they stay at least 1 version behind on all their software. We were still running Windows 95b when I started there in 2000 (long after Windows 2000 had already been released). I'm surprised our monitors didn't have blue screen burn in; my god Win95 is the utterest of garbage in an OS. I'd rather run OS2/Warp or something. Anyhow, it wasn't until roughly 2003 that they finally upgraded to Windows 2000 Professional on all their computers (and updated the Macs to 10.2 (Jaguar?) from OS 9). I no longer work for that (now) horrendous company, but I'm sure they'll upgrade to XP Pro within the next 2 years and wait for all the BS to surface from Vista before even bothering with it.
Most corporations are this way, so (again) I absolutely agree with you. For at least the first year of its existence - no companies will be running Vista, only home users.
Second, has anyone else here used the public beta? I haven't seen any comments on it in the first 3 pages, but let me tell you...it sucks! I had to take it off my PC that I am using until my MacPro arrives and went back to XP.
From my experience, Vista Beta is full of bugs and issues. Yes, I know it is still a Beta, but if it is slated for a Jan 30 release, they have a lot of work to do.
I mentioned it on page 3. I've used several betas and they all suck. Bugs and crashes that come from using a beta OS aside - the system requirements are absurd. At this point I can't tell if the beta sucks because of bugs or because I no longer have bleeding edge hardware. Mind you though, none of my computers have ever pitched a fit at running *nix, Windows 2k or XP, or even OSX86.
I still don't know why the average person would change from XP to Vista--it doesn't look that different and doesn't offer much more to the average websurfer/emailer.
The major change is UAP, User Account Protection, which is basically a ripped off version of (Administrator) Authentication with a User access account that *nix and OSX have had for years now.
IMO Vista will undoubtedly add more Genuine Advantage, DRM, and Activation BS that I'll steer clear of that mess and keep running the old versions of Windows that already work trouble-free for me. When they stop supporting Win2k (after the 7-year (or whatever it is) product 'cycle'), I'll keep running it because IMO it's the best version of Windows that has ever (and most likely *will ever*) be released.

My favorite part:
Microsoft has announced its new iPod competitor, Zune. It says that this device is all about building communities. Are you worried?
In a word, no. I've seen the demonstrations on the Internet about how you can find another person using a Zune and give them a song they can play three times. It takes forever. By the time you've gone through all that, the girl's got up and left! You're much better off to take one of your earbuds out and put it in her ear. Then you're connected with about two feet of headphone cable.

The direct links download as *.zip files. Do I just change to *.ipsw?
"However, this does not mean these other applications are dead - simply that Apple is not talking about them... yet."
So maybe this explains the low price point. $299 for Final Cut Pro X and $999 for the full suite? I hope not. All looks amazing though!

any idea who the 3rd party vendor was? perhaps the hate mail should start flying there way!
I have 3 USB 1 ports and 2 FireWire ports. Does that mean if I buy a new 8Gb Nano, it won't work with my system? :(
All iMac G5s have USB 2.0 - you're either mistaken or quoting your machine incorrectly.

What does it mean to "recall"?.
what do you think it means?
And i called apple, they basically told me tough luck right now and i will have to wait basically till tomorrow to check the website because they are still updating it
Because the tech tried to input everything on his side and it wouldn't accept it either.

You know, I hate to say this, but it has a striking resemblance to the "Vista" font. Granted, "vista" is more narrow. Scary, huh?
This could be more of the same shrewd move they did with the Leopard menu bar, I know it's nasty but Apple are trying to get more PC users to switch and offering them something they are familiar with would help the transition

I hate subscription models almost as much as I do data caps.
Agreed. And I think this model has it's pros and cons. More cons though. I personally wouldn't mind "renting" Premier Pro and After Effects when a clients asks for a project done with those tools. Or if I were collaborating and didn't want to have to work with EDLs and XML files for cross platform work.
But renting the entire CS would be crazy for anyone that gets consistent work and has their own rig to work on.
The only times I've upgraded my Adobe software has been when I desperately needed to. I stole up to CS1, bought CS2, needed CS3 to escape Rosetta and was given a copy of Design Premium CS4 from my job. I am looking to upgrade to the Master Collection but I may just wait for CS6, the just spend my time with it for 4 years.
Haha, people still actually buy software from Adobe. The Internet is your friend people.
Don't worry about it. The guys who can't afford to pay for it and pirate it are usually the folks who just want to "hoard" it rather than use it. If they had any talent to begin with, they'd be making enough money with the tool where the cost of it would be meaningless anyway. ;)
KnightWRX is correct . . . . 100% in fact.
Your logic is flawed, kid. You need the right tools, BEFORE you can make money with them.
You are wrong . . . 110% wrong in fact. You are so wrong in fact that it hurts. Tools can't teach you how to design. Any goof-ball can learn Photoshop and Illustrator, but it takes a designer to design.
I tell this to my students now that constantly whine about learning apps, but never getting the concepts down, never thinking abstractly, etc.
And as for pirating (which I was into HEAVY), it's actually far better to just buy the EDU version to learn. It's yours, it comes with less bugs, and I am sure you'll eventually want to get paid for your work yourself, so why not pay the company that's helping you get paid?
Please don't tell me that anyone that actually needs the CS apps can't plunk down $450-$1000 for the EDU version, but will shell out $3000 for an overpriced Mac Pro?

it seems that there is no longer an option for the "matte" screen, only the glossy one.
also, and this is a guess, the new airport cards are the same as the pre-n ones found in recent MBPs and iMacs.

Target also has them in tomorrow's ad.
Not sure if anyone encountered issues, but I know our store receive five iPad 2s on Tuesday, and then got an internal e-mail on Thursday telling us that we will be receiving a case of five iPad 2s for the Sunday ad, and as such, to hold them until that time.
Yeah, we pretty much sold them that Tuesday. Thanks for the advance warning.
My apologies on behalf of Target if you kept running into stores that never had them in stock.

Green iPod..I wanted a Green Mini, but my local Apple store was out when I went to buy it, but they only had Gold..so I went with it..now I can get a Green one!
Since when did you get to make the rules? How can we possibly have a useful discussion about race and crime if we can't talk about some of the basic underlying causes for the disparity in wealth and political power in America between white people and everybody else? Why should we forget the 3/5ths clause, Dred Scott, the Civil War, Jim Crow, the Civil Rights movement or the KKK and its children. Not to mention the slave trade that brought these people here in the first place. You might not like to talk about all those things, but you are flat out ignoring or dismissing their impact on current issues - and that is the fatal flaw in your reasoning.
So again with the boohoo sob stories of past discrimination that young blacks today have never felt? They are put at an advantage over whites today and have been for the last 40 years. And once again, you say nothing about other countries that have the same issue and no racial history like the US has, i've already asked you twice to acknowledge this and look at it in a more global way, and you keep mentioning slavery and jim crow laws which affected a tiny percentage of africans worldwide a long time ago. stop thinking only within the borders of the US. Not only do they commit a disproportionate amount of the crime in mostly white countries , they can't even seem to run their own countries in Africa without violence. WHY???? Quit it with the politically correct "the white man is bringing the black race down" BS and look at it realistically.

Reading some of the posts about this on Twitter, it may (or may not be) about the Three20 project (Objective C library for developing iPhone apps) that was developed by Hewitt. It apparently was using private APIs and may have been getting other people's apps, who were using the code, rejected. Conceivably, the Facebook app could have been using the same private API calls and was continually getting rejected. Supposedly, Apple has some new way to check out if you're using these APIs. Hewitt may have just got fed up with the situation and decided to quit.
There is a reason you don't use Apple private APIs in Cocoa. They are fluid and will break your application.
Public APIs are meant for mass consumption and have been through several levels of SQA.
You write your own private APIs for the functionality you want that is not current in Public APIs. You submit requests for your functionality to become part of the Public APIs if you feel it would save a lot of time in the future.
Using private APIs by the parent Company violates any basic common knowledge of OOA/OOD.

This just proves how idiotic humanity is. These songs have been available in multiple formats for over 40 years, but only now, since they are offered in a lossy digital file, do people buy them.Considering that the Beetles were the 2nd highest selling musical act of the last decade people were still buying the physical CDs.
I've been going thru these forums for about a year now. I find good posts and opinions but I hate these snide comments from people. Not everyone is as tech savvy as many who post here. I'm sick of scrolling past these guys that have nothing better to do than mock others.
