  • Yeppers. The Beatles were a great musical group. Innovative. They changed the music of the times. They began as pop and morphed into serious musicians with unique sounds. The White album was a landmark album. I wonder what the analysis will be in one hundred years? Bach=like? Probably....

  • Here we go with the "You said this, so you must be this..." stereotype...

I know guys where even though they are the "bread winner" or contribute greatly to the funds, they have to approve EVERYTHING through the Wife - whereas the Wife can spend as she pleases....

    Happy Wife, Happy Life...

Not into that type of relationship.

Yeah, not really into that mentality either. As for the previous 2 posters. thanks for the response, but it wasn't necessary to patronize me as if I don't know what a serious relationship entails, and make assumptions. You didn't really provide any further insight, besides 'I need to keep the peace'. I stated in my post, the only issue should be about money. If you can't afford it, you certainly shouldn't even ask your wife permission to buy it, its just irresponsible and childish. If you can afford it, the wife shouldn't be able to stop you 'just because'. Does she run her purchases by you? Doubtful. Not every ****ing thing needs to be a joint decision where 'approval' is required. In many relationships, what would happen if the husband refused to give permission to the wife to buy something she wants (ie. an overpriced piece of fabric or shiny rock)? He would be seen as cheap, assholish, rules with an 'iron fist', controlling, a bad husband, etc etc. It basically wouldn't stand. But the wife can have veto for purchasing decisions as she pleases, even though the guy brings home most or all of the income? That's called unreasonable, so **** that ****. But nice to know you're all cool with it. I guess they have the power to refuse sex, which leverage.

  • I used to build a lot of fences for livestock farms. No matter how well we thought we built the fence, the only way to make sure the pigs couldn't get out was to put the pigs in...

And that's my feelings about computer security. At least these guys are going public with their findings. Now it's time for the computer savy public to put them through their paces.

  • As an ex-employee of a computer retail store, I always used to get the questions.."What's the different between XP home & Pro?" "Does XP Pro come with Word, that's why it costs more?" Etc..

Microsoft continues to ship buggy software and confuse the hell out of people.
And for those complaining that OS X was more expensive than Windows Vista over time, think again...The updates aren't as needed from one version to the next, so you may choose to skip one or two, for example from 10.3 to 10.4, and skip to 10.5. It will cost you $129.99 (or whatever the price for 10.5 is), while Windows Vista costs a lot more, and it's just another bugged version of Windows XP.

I went Mac a year ago and will NEVER buy/build another PC.

  • This is the classic response of the mac forum member who wants to act too cool to care that someone, in fact, proved them wrong.

The fact that Apple makes a quality product and provides solid customer service has not escaped me. My point was that Apple's practice of charging top dollar for outdated technology and keeping their customers in the dark as to new releases is poor. The only true way to show your disapproval of this practice is by closing your wallet.

If you want to prove me wrong, feel free to cite to a Consumer Reports article which promotes overcharging for older technology or withholding information from consumers which forces them to make purchases without full information about the market ... about any company.

    Check and mate.

Most people (myself included) are quite frustrated that Apple hasn't released the new MBP yet ... which is really frustration at the company for their practices. I think most would appreciate a simple announcement that new MBP's are coming out on a certain date, or a statement that they are working on specific technology, etc.

  • Interesting.....powerbooks and ibooks sold through this month but not the batteries in the Macbook or Macbook Pro....I'm thinking the newer batteries (for MBP and MB) are OK because they use Li-Poly cells instead of Li-Ion.

  • And even the interface of the iPod Touch could be much better if they dropped all those useless animations and transition effects that only achieve one thing: They slow me down. And that is especially dangerous when using the bloody thing while driving a car.

That's why I added an iPod interface to my car. Toss the iPod in the glove box and control it from the steering wheel. ;)

Very often, I envy the people who have a USB port in their car radio; they just plug in a USB stick without all those unnecessary fancy things and they are not locked into the "iTunes experience" or any other DRM prison.

DRM prison? Glad I only have mp3s on my iPod.

Why? it's an ipod first of all, and 128 is a step back from 160. who cares SSD or not? its an ipod not a computer.

Actually the HD based iPods don't get along too well with the vibrations generated from a motorcycle. With that said I did take a 6000 mile trip with my iPod Video and definitely put some wear and tear on the HD. Later in life it even started acting up in the Jeep on paved roads. I hope the HD has completely failed now for whomever stole it. ;)

if tapping an orange square is really too much for you, there's always the option of leaving the ipod app open all the time.

The classic is nice while doing yard work. If I don't like a song I can just reach down without looking and hit the skip button. No need to stop, take off the gloves and unlock the screen.

Rationally, the click-wheel has no real advantage over a touch screen.

    See above. ;)

  • That's not quite it. People were annoyed at the fact that the event was so hyped, not that it was somehow a "bad" thing.

It wasn't over hyped by Apple, they only stuck a teaser on their homepage for 24 hours.

  • I have to descent from the mass and say I was not impressed by the Keynote. What the hell is with Safari still having the brushed metal interface, as well as the finder, etc...

I thought they were finally going to get rid of that and get some consistency in their GUI.

Did you stop to think for just a second that Apple is not showing the new Finder yet, and that the Finder included with Leopard right now is the Tiger one?

  • It's appropriate that Toys'r'Us would carry the iPad 2, an overpriced toy.

While the iPad certainly can be a great toy, anyone who believes that a powerful, intuitive, easy to use tablet computer is only a toy is a complete idiot.

  • what we need is a bigger lens forget about MP i tather a 3 o 5 mega pixel with a larger lens and sensor than 8 mp with such a small lens the only thing it will get are extra large crappy images

Obviously, bigger lens is not coming to iPhone for it implies thicker (or non-flat) design which Steve will never approve.

  • Now that would be expensive!!!

I like the idea of The Beatles catalog being available on iTunes, but for me, I'd be most interested in getting CD's of the remastered music so I can rip at my preferred bit rate. :)

Is this all part of Paul's plan to stay solvent through his divorce?

BREAKEVEN: is 25 MILLIONS TRACKS DOWNLOADED!!!
    OUCH!
The Beatles are OLD and HISTORY.
They will NEVER break even on this contract.

They'd BETTER sell an Beatles IPOD, maybe 10 different ones.
They will only breakeven on hardware.

My dad got me an original iPad for my birthday at BB and went to return it last Monday and told them he was gonna get the new one at an Apple Store so they went in the back and said they have a few iPad 2s and got a 32gb AT&T one. Was yesterday supposed to be the first day BB was selling the 2?

When you want to do a return and get new one elsewhere, all of a sudden, they "have them..."

As long as iOS and Lion are HUGE updates, I don't mind there not being an iPhone 5 at WWDC.

I remember that phase. I had the whole aqua thing going on with a skin from themexp.

Yeah, well my phase is just between now and the MBP release. After that I'm gonna give my computer to my brother so that he can play GTA: SA without any lagging. Hehe :D Long live games, the only thing a PC does better than a mac

I pay 5 a month for 100MB so I really don't see this happening on 3G for me... lol

iPad as an excellent calculator? Only if you're doing 4th, 5th, 6th grade maths and even so, shame on you. Ho there's spacetime and pocket cas, well they're crap.

    *Facepalm*

    Want a real calculator?
    Install matlab/mathematica on your laptop.

    Oh the iPad...
    Well trow it away.

Number One checking in! Seriously, I started the first "Post Your Mac Setup" thread.

It still boggles my mind that this has made it to 13 parts and is still going strong! *knock on wood* I hope it never ends!

I just sold my MacBook Pro but once my iMac arrives I will take photos of my setup for everyone. It's definitely changed a lot since then, lol.

Plus, everyone else's photos are making me super envious!
