So I have heard from others online in these posts this is valid since August 1 FOR EVERYONE and your picture is there, so this is not an issue. What I am wondering about is why is this EAD only valid for one year when first it was valid for two years, why have they changed this? My mom is going for the Tourist Visa to Chennai on 31st Mar, 2008. I am in US presently and my brother could able to arrange for the birth certificate. A big blunder, my mom name is blank in the birth certificate as they have prepared the BC keeping in mind my SSC (10th Certificate which doesn't have mom's name, ofcourse). Whether an affidavit from my mom + the birth certificate without my mom name in it, will solve my problem?

Went there personally and reached the consulate at around 9:00 AM... they had the waiting area open and gave me a number... approx 40 people were ahead of mine ... I had to do two work and seems one number was good enough for that ... by 10:45 I got my turn and the lady at the counter took my papers and papers for my little one's PIO card ... I paid 20+20 = $40 extra so that they can USPS me the PP ... received it within one week and the PIO card within 10 days ... I was out by 11:00 AM from the consulate ... a personal advice, if you go personally avoid Monday or Friday .. go in a weekday and you will have better luck with the crowd...
Good thing about going personally is that you do not have to send any original doc (for PIO card case) ... they only kept my old PP and returned both the books via mail...

I took the pain of driving to NY all the way from Boston to get my passport renewed. I woke up at 3:00AM and stated off at 4:00AM so that I could reach the consulate by 8:00AM. I was told by my friends that I would get it in the evening itself. Unfortunately, I was faced with severe disappointment that they are no longer returning the passports on the same day. The worst part about the Indian consulate in NY is that they didn't update their Website. When I called them several times, non one answers the phone and speaks with courtesy.
After arriving at the consulate, we were made to wait in the cold for atleast an hour until 9:15AM (They open the doors at 9:30AM). They have no mercy for people. Also, the approach they took to call out people was terrible. It was like a fish market. I asked them if would get my passport back on the same day. I didn't get a straight answer until my number was called. I went there and atleast that lady talked to me with respect with a smiling on her face. Atlast I was told that they are not returning the passport on the same day. They asked me to pay 20 extra dollars so that they'd send the passport by Express mail (USPS). She also told me that I can track the passport.
I then drove back to Boston, the same afternoon. After exactly a week, I got the new passport booklet along with my old passport. I am fortunate enough to have all of the details printed accurately.
My strong advise to everyone is to send their passports by mail.

I was with consulting company till 06/2009 after which I joined the client (fortune 10) company as full time employee. I'm on EB3 category using my EAD.
When I was with consulting company before I left they filed for my EB2 labor which is now approved.
Here is my DILEMMA.
OPTION#1) I can join my previous employer. i.e. the consulting company for interfiling between EB3 and EB2 so in which case if I go for premium I140 processing I will be on EB2 within a month or so.
BUT I'll have to leave my current full time employment which is with a fortune 10 company and good pay, I'm not comfortable to leave this position AND I do NOT want to loose the opportunity of getting my GC as soon as possible as EB2 dates are so close to my priority date.
OPTION#2) Discard the approved EB2 labor that my previous employer (consulting company) have for me and ask my current employer (fortune 10)company start my EB2 PERM labor and premium I140 and then interfile. There was a problem in the first two of seven D70s I've used. The focus calibration was off by about a tenth of a millimeter. This means that your images will not be focused on your subject, but instead on something somewhat behind your subject. Don't confuse this with the common mistake of having selected the wrong AF area or otherwise pointing the AF sensor to the side of your subject. Nikon of course will adjust this under warranty if it's a problem. With common f/3.5 and slower lenses it's not much of a problem, and at regular shooting apertures of f/8 or so its completely invisible. Some people incorrectly call this the "backfocus" problem.
On the other hand, if you have fast lenses that alone cost more than the complete D70 kit and you shoot them wide open you ought to check your camera. My $1,700 28mm f/1.4 lens (http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/2814af.htm) wide open at f/1.4 was useless on two cameras, but of course OK at normal apertures. You won't see this through the finder. You have to look at the images at 100% on your computer. It's simply the image being focused on something just a little behind where it should have, which is usually invisible if you have enough depth of field, and of course Nikon will stand behind it if it really is a problem. The samples I've used in May 2004 now seem AOK and mine is perfect, even at f/1.4.
Heck, my D70 focused better than any other camera I've owned, even with my f/1.4 lenses.
Testing this is simple. Just go make at least a dozen photos with your lens wide open and look at the results at 100% on your computer. See if the camera really focused where it should have. If you haven't done this kind of test before there's the potential that your technique may be off and not looked for it before, but you get the idea.
