  • Why is someone bothered if the question itself does no harm. Grow up or change doctors if you don't like to be asked questions. This law is about as anti-libertarian and useless government intrusion as it gets.

Yep. You summed it up well.

  • I have found a tutorial where you can start, stop and reset a timer, I could use that, but I want a datePicker to select time and the tutorial doesn't show that. Here is the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5jmTQi98vec&feature=related

    Divide and conquer.

Where he makes the counter count backwards from 600 by hardcoding the initial value in the label, make that a variable that is tied to the datePicker of your choice.

If you want to do it in baby steps, first use two labels one for the input and one for the display to input the starting time and then replace the input one with your datePicker.

  • No. The AMD processors we're talking about have the same instruction set as the Intel processors Apple is currently using
You are obviously not a systems programmer.

Check out the source code for Xen, and then try to tell me that a Xeon and an Opteron have identical instruction sets....

    Hmm, 6.1 = 6 + 1 = 7, 6.2 = 8.

  • It's impossible to enforce a gun ban when you just need to drive to the next town to buy them. If we were to implement restrictions it would have to be nation-wide, or else it would be too easily thwarted.

Uh huh- then what? Get our neighboring countries to do the same? We've all seen how well that works. All you'll do is create a huge black market if you attempt to ban guns. Then crime gets even worse. Not the way to go about the problem at all. Not to mention the fact that you would have a huge constitutional issue on your hands.

  • He didn't do it by himself. There was a whole company working on things. The difference is that he had a vision of what should be happening.

It took smart people in all areas to make Apple what it is today.

What about all the former Apple CEO's. They had a company behind him too, but he simply could not lead like Jobs can.

  • Bloggers often struggle to gain acceptance as a valid and legitimate source of news, and with this stunt (see link) Gizmodo have helped to undermine those who have worked so hard to gain credibility within an elitist industry.

I'm not without a sense of humour, but when Giz started screwing with a live presentation they crossed a line. This type of behaviour shouldn't be condoned in my opinion and a strong signal should be sent out to those responsible. Who's to say that they wouldn't interfere with an Apple event? What do you make of their actions?

  • they didn't release iwork and ilife probably b/c of Amazon putting it up on their website early
Actually, I believe it wasn't released at MacWorld for two reasons...

    1) Time. They keynote ran about 2 hours as is (already above the average). Introducing two new software suites would easily add another 45 minutes (making the event much too long).

    2) The focus was clearly the iPhone, and Jobs didn't want anything to steal its glory.

It makes much more sense to introduce the iPhone at MacWorld and have a separate event for Leopard, iLife, and iWork.

  • But Apple admitted that it DOES drop more calls than 3GS.

They spun it as "less than 1 per 100", but assuming all 3,000,000 iPhone 4 users make about 5 calls per day, that's over ONE MILLION dropped calls per week MORE than iPhone 3GS.[/I]

That total number is meaningless to the end user. The Average user will make 100 calls on a 4 and 100 on a 3GS and not see a difference.

It's also a number that could change from week to week depending on all sorts of nebulous factors. This week the stats might favor the 4 by 1 call for all you know.

and the way you express yourself practically shows me why people 'diss' all your gadgets.

you Americans have some ridiculous proverbs/figure of speeches that no other Anglophones around the world can even attempt to understand.

And the English language's inception was here in England so why do Americans spell rumours 'rumors'? And there are an abundance of similar examples.

  • And people kept telling me that OSX and iOS weren't going to merge in any meaningful manner for years ahead, if ever. Yeah right. I'd bet the one after this has them nearly fully merged and I mean towards iOS for the most part. OSX will be dumbed down to the lowest common brain cell and you won't be able to get free/open software anymore. It'll have to come through the App Store or not at all. Wait and see. That is the point I'll be moving on.

There's a huge difference between merging in concepts of the UI, user-friendly software distribution, media access and what you describe.

It is very unlikely that Apple's engineering and marketing would destroy what they've worked to build for so long, IMHO. How are you so certain that they'll be bringing all the bad stuff along with the good stuff? Seriously - do you really think that Apple's talent are as utterly foolish that you make them out to be?

Haaaaaaa just shared a launch day story, and the majority of you would have hauled ass with iPad in hand for the price I paid. Haters lmfao

No, I wouldn't have. Unlike you, I don't enjoy ripping people off.

I heard that Steve Jobs did not attend OS X's birthday party. Rather, he sent a thumb drive with a video of him at the developers conference a few years ago where he used a coffin to bury OS 9. Rumor is that writing on the thumb drive said "U R next NeXT - Steve"
