The memo is not very clear with respect to the employer-employee relationship. Most of the IT companies nowadays have moved to the contract model (e.g. IBM makes more money out of contract implementation of its own products or project implementation of other products, than from the sale and licensing of its products).

Dear Friends, I had it... I am moving to Canada in the next 2 months to work for guess who? Microsoft. Came to USA in 1997 for my masters, worked at Legato, Documentum and Opentext. Had to restart my GC twrice, once as the company laid me off and next for career progression. GC is still years years away. Interviewed with MSFT last month and got an offer to work in their Enterprise Collaboration team. MSFT looked at the visa mess I was in and offered me to work in Vancouver. I get my Canadian GC in 6 months and my wife can work from day one. I am abandoning my US dream for good;guess I would be satisfied with touching my 4 year old son's American passport.

Any for those whiners belonging to IEEE and its propoganda machine, I would like to mention that I drew salries which were above way above the norm. I am sure I would be drawing more than 2 of his programmers combined. Ron- ask your folks to learn to compete and update their skills. They probably studied studied 'history of mathematics' as a math subject in high school instead of calculus. They were happy that they had the coolest Nintendo games while many like me were burning the midnight old figuring out data structures at Berkeley.

Berney, fix the broken education system for job protection rather than building fences to prevent legal workers to come to this gifted country. These are complex issues and generally you will get a lot further appealing to someones sense of fairness than explaining how you are entitled to something and will take it from them if it is not given to you.

When we moved from MN to NJ, we were so happy to find so many Indians around. In an Indian store I found a fellow native and I introduced myself. We were so happy that we found a good neighbor whom we can befriend. I gave them my number and got their number back. I never got any response from them whenever I called - ever. At one point of time, it became very difficult to distinguish between a genuine smile and the e-commerce business smile! I can now understand why they never attended my calls! :)

I have been following this thread for last couple of days and I feel I need to make few points. I remember when this amway/qucikstar thing started several of my close friends got entangled and tried to involve me. However, every time I bailed myself out by clearly mentioning to them "Right now, making lot of money is not in my top priorities. I want to focus on my carrier." Fortunately, I was able to fend off the proposals and clearly make my point.
In this thread, several of you are mentioning to ridicule, diminish, embarrass, and even socially out casting an amway/quickstar member. I feel its going a little bit too far. If you dont like to be in the amway/quickstar business stay clear of it, nobody will be able to force you in it. Setting up anti-amway websites, sharing names of the "bugging" amway members, distributing their phone numbers, and destroying their social reputation is harming the person personally, not the amway/quickstar business. We all know by now the amway/quickstar is a scam, majority of its signed members end up losing valuable time and money. How do you feel if some of your mentioned action emotionally push a distressed person off the cliff. Think about it a bit !!!

Concerning ROW retrogression, my H1b is an October expiry (I've been here since 1999) so I file my renewal in April (6 months in advance) with my i-140 approved I qualified for 3 years additional H1b. But with the fiasco quotas last May, June and July I was able i-485, however because USCIS issued a receipt for the i-485 they only gave me 12 months H1b renewal. then to add insult to the injury ROW retrogressed meaning another H1b renewal is likely.
At some point I will have to decide whether to begin the H1b renewal process again.

Concerning ROW retrogression, my H1b is an October expiry (I've been here since 1999) so I file my renewal in April (6 months in advance) with my i-140 approved I qualified for 3 years additional H1b. But with the fiasco quotas last May, June and July I was able i-485, however because USCIS issued a receipt for the i-485 they only gave me 12 months H1b renewal. then to add insult to the injury ROW retrogressed meaning another H1b renewal is likely.
At some point I will have to decide whether to begin the H1b renewal process again.
