  • Just curious, why are you not porting your PD?. Nowadays Perm takes less than 2 months and with premium, 140 takes a few months.

I-140 premium processing was stopped last year...It takes upto a year or more to get I-140 approved, that too if its a direct case...If its a interfiling case to capture PD from Eb-3 to Eb-2, then its taking even longer..One of my friends filed I-140 in March 2007 to capture his Eb-3 PD of Apr 2004 to EB-2 and he is still waiting....I-140 processing dates are well beyond his receipt date but still his application is pending....So porting PDs is not that straightforward these days...

  • Thanks Sanju for bringing this up...
From my experience, I have seen the hiring managers being hand-in-glove with the Consulting companies(both desi and non-desi) from which they frequently hire...these consulting companies get the most favored status for every opening that hiring manager publishes... And I'm not talking about some non-descript company...I'm talking about Fortune 100 companies...
@alapkd -> Unfortunately they hardly get caught...

When a Consulting company is being hired to do a job, they take the responsibility of things going wrong...they are also hired for a fairly defined time...These are few reasons why they are paid high...also bigger the company, bigger the overhead costs...you are sponsoring a lot of cost centers dept from what you earn....
Try independent consulting to get a better share of your earning....

  • Would you please elaborate if the flower campaign has hit any mainstream media like CNN, Fox etc?? Or just the TOI and other small covers? I just want to know how famous this has become.. Thanks.

The flower campaign is apparently working as far as the attention the issue is getting.

If we can manage to send at least 500-700 flowers to USCIS, that will create the kind of attention we want and it will bring the issue of retrogression again on the forefront in Washington DC.

PLEASE PLEASE send the flowers to USCIS director Emilio Gonzalez. For details on sending, address and the message on the message card, read this thread :

    Thanks.

  • AT JFK.
Submitted two copies of AP and passport. I had three copies from USCIS.
Went through US citizen/resident queue and the CBP officer took me to another verification counter.
There were only one other person (Russian). No questions asked. NONE. Verified address and very very informative and friendly CBP officer. Handed both AP with one of them stamped. I have all three copies of AP with me with one stamped.
He advised that every time I travel make sure there is no NOID on my case and my AP is current.

there is lot of chnace for those who got their I-140 approved, even their PD '2006.

you can see people getting approved PD'2005 EB2 cases, even then VB says now 2004'apr for EB2.They are not processing based on PD now and in future also i gues.Since we have already filed.PD will restrict only to File I-485 in future.

  • I fell into this website, just trying to get some information from people that have experience with immigration issues.
I run a small consulting business, and I have found an ideal candidate to work for me. He is a foreign national, and is currently in this country on an H1-B visa.
What requirements do I need to comply with to qualify to sponsor this person to work with my company?
I have tried to look up information on the government website, but it is frustrating. Am I asking the wrong questions?

thanks for any information you can help me with.

  • I do have a copy of I-140 approval notice and also I do have a copy of the labor petition, but do not have the job code.

Attorney said that they have represented Employer also along with the employee and hence they need an authorization from Employer in order to answer any questions or to do any thing with my pending I-485.

Either this is not an honest statement (or an excuse for not working on the case if you already paid him/her), or the lawyer is not competent. You are better off with a new lawyer. Simply contact another good lawyer. S/he will file a G-28 form.

  • Here's what i can add - my ead too has been pending for 4 months now.!
I went in for a second infopass this morning (14 degrees F - 5 block walk from where i parked.! I almost had a facial nerve plasy from the biting cold!). Anyway after looking into her system - the IO told me that the A # on my 485 receipt has not been linked to the 765 & 131 applications.! So she was busy typing so stuf for like 2-3 mins and then said that since my 485 was filed intially and the 765 & 131 were sent in after a month or so - hence this generated a miscommunication between both these sets of applications.
So since the A# is not tagged to the EAD & AP applications in thier system - i guess it seems like i have not filed for the EAD & AP at all.! Makes sense.?? I guess..!!
Anyway she was kinda nice....she was like... don't worry...etc..the last thing she said after i said thanks was "good luck - hang in there"..Imagine that coming from USCIS IO..!! Lets wait and see now if at all there is any progress on my case.!

  • Do you know how much more the premium would be for this product compared to regular term? I am guessing a lot more. In that case whole life is better where the cash value generated would pay much more after 30 years based on a low 5.5 - 6% estimated annual return. But of course it is for folks who will stay in US at least 15 years+ because after 15 yeras the Cash Value could itself pay for the permium and you do not have to pay any more premuims unless you wish to boost the Cash Value further.

Its not a lot more.. about $200 more per year.. ... but atleast you get back all your money..

  • IT and BPO outsourcing is also leading to Americanization of Indian youth and Indian youth are spending their high salaries on American products. In no time you will see American fast food chains, groceries, and many American MNCs cashing on a Americanized Indian crowd and neutralize ( and will eventually exceed the investments they make).

This is the beginning of Americanization. Most of you will not understand what I say because you are here in US for a long time and being first generation immigrants (on a limbo) keep up with your tradition. Americanization is like a slow bleed. IT and BPO is investment. Returns will come in form of MNCs and businesses and finally benefit American economy.

Just go back to India and look into the ITand BPO companies and lifestyles of people there. it will be 5 times higher than what we follow here as the Americanization is already induced.

Bottomline, do not underestimate America. They know what they do.

I share your thoughts. There are a multitude of sectors/issues that are mimicking the American style. With the advent of ICICI, any body can pretty much walk in and get a loan with a 30 yr EMI. Imagine the number of people losing jobs in India, both at Multinational and local companies providing services if the economy tanks here. What are people gonna do with home loans they signed up for 30 yrs or what ever? Fore closures on a grand scale?? Indian economy has been going up.. up and up due to software services and BPO sector. With out any manufacturing, infrastructure building up it would be very difficult for Indian economy to sustain growth or level out gracefully when hit hard. IMHO, Just being the back office of the world will not get India on par with US.

  • Another example my ex-boss in US had. There was a homeless person in his area and he used to see him almost every day. One day he decided to do something, talked to him and asked him to sign-up with his church rehab group, get him a job etc....My ex-boss was serious but the homeless promptly rejected all the offers and instead he just wanted to remain as homeless only. He didn't even want to try....

    Thanks,
    GCisaDawg

    USA is land of opportunity.
Moral of the story, homelessness in this country is by choice not by chance!

One question i have and many others like me would be interested in knowing is a clear description on how the money collected will be spent. I understand by reading your posts that it will be totally transparent and will be detailed out every week. But its more important for people to know before hand on how and why money is needed, before they can open up their purses generously.

    US-Alien,

We have posted several times that we need the money to hire a lobbyist. We got some financial quotes: it will cost up to $100K to hire a lobbyist for 4 months.

Why do we need a lobbyist:

    1. We can meet Congressmen's staff on our own but it would be difficult to get appointments. Lobbyists tend to be former Congressmen or staffers with connections who can help to get apppointments.

    2. With the S.1932 debacle, last minute deals were cut and the immigration provisions were removed from the conference report of the Senate and the House. We need someone who can use their contacts and find out what is going on with the bill that has our provisions in it. We need to make sure that our stuff doesn't get thrown out in another backdoor deal. During S.1932 we never got to the actual Congressmen or Senators to plead our case.

    3. We need someone to tell us what exactly to tell Congressmen. We were saying all along that we need green cards because we can't buy houses, can't get promoted etc. But the one lobbyist pointed out that Congress would be much more receptive if we said we wanted to immigrate and the delay in green cards was holding up our immigration.

    Does this make sense?

Please post and let me know.

I can understand that people want their money to be used effectively. But please also realize that in the bigger scheme of things, $100 is the average cable bill for 2 months. Even if we don't succeed, it is a far better use of my money than cable.

alabaman dude i would be out on the next plane...thats where i m looking to move also..calgary or edmonton.
