Very well said, nozerd. Indians may keep dreaming about INR gaining value against USD. It might actually happen at some point of time, but without the proper infrastructure that it needs, its going nowhere in my opinion.
What India needs is

Clean drinking water, un-interrupted power supply
Roads and neighborhoods without trash pile ups
Change of people's attitude that Govt should do everything for them, but without having to have pay taxes, fee etc.

I think they had given a waiver till August 21 or so for the July fiasco filers.
Do you think I still not have to pay or should I pay the fee ?

A lawyer will always say "DO AS PER INSTRUCTIONS".
But this case although unique, you still belonged to the pre-aug filers, even though there was a waiver (since u were applying based on PD which was for july month).
I remember that during that time USCIS has instructed everyone to add some kind of bright color sheet / paper on top of your application to state clearly that you belong to that group of pre-aug filing people and that you are filing using the old fee structure. that way you are clearly telling them "dont reject me directly because of incorrect fees".
Again although this seems very straightforward to me, that you HAVE TO pay $340, I still recommend you research more/talk to lawyer/USCIS.

The discussion is what we should do to act on these issues. IV core has been (I assume) assembling data for some time now to have valid numbers for some action items. Let's get on with the action items now and see where they take us. If that is deemed unsuccessful then we go for the next. We keep trying. That should be the motto. My 2 cents.

No, we are not going to abuse this and we won't be sending stuff over and over. But stoppers have a very Specific significance: to educate and differentiate between legal and illegal. USCIS just seems to be changing rules according to their whims and fancies. They are changing rules according to their convenience. What do these idiots think of themselves? One cannot plan on anything when we are dealing with USCIS. What's good today may not be good tomorrow. Do they expect us to be stuck in the backlogs and wait for years together for them to take their own sweet time to process applications? May be a case of job security for these lazy staff.

Hi John, thanks for bringing this to the attention of our members. Lets hope everybody finds time to call Sen Cornyn to thank him for introducing this bill. Another thing I wanted to say is that, our members are all busy with 485 filing and stuff so we can expect a response only after the 17th of August when the excitement of 485 filing is over. Even though it was defeated it doesn't seem to be a very hated idea by the majority since 5 more votes would have made it safe. So there still seems to be a positive factor lingering around for us the "legal immigrants". Hope we are able to capitalize on it soon. IV is infact becomming stronger and more influential thanks to the dedicated efforts of the leader and the members. Pls keep up the spirit for all of us. We need vigilant people like you to do the work to spot opportunities and failures for the community. Thanks.

I wish there will be at least some forward movement in EB2 category in next month bulletin. The psychological barrier 01/01/2003 which was stuck there since May this year should pass. This month bulletin is little relief for EB2 folks compared to the PD unavailable in the month of September:)

AOS applied early June, FP was completed early July, and I am lucky to have a pretty unusual name. My PD was April 04, my card was received before the DC rally - Visa Bulletin for my category was Aug 02 at the time of approval... .
3. It would be interesting if shimul99 would share with us as when exactly his status was adjudicated. I've read somewhere that there are cases, that people got their GCs approved by mistake and lawyers suggested to inform CIS and return the GC. These people were then having their statuses adjudicated when their PDs were becoming current.

After incorporating the company in one of the states. What are the next important things one as a owner of the company needs to take care of especially if it is in IT product development area ( ofcourse including consulting but not purely comparable to predominent desi consultancy services)
Specifically in the following category:
1. If you are selling IT software products and services, what are the legal necessary formalities one needs to take care of?
2. How about expanding the branches in outside USA? May be a branch office in India to leverage huge technical resources? Any legal or other things to be taken care of ?
3. Bank Accounts next steps
4. Credits Credit Cards. What are the precautions one needs to take care of?

what makes you think hiring managers eat commission? are you a hiring manager? you think in such big hierarchies in big companies few people who are doing hiring can actually eat commissions lol. you think it works like indian police department where havaladar collects money and buys bidi for fellow havaldars and buys 2 for himself and gives the rest to his sub inspector who in turn gives to inspector and so on and so on? if that was the case one would not want to get promoted to anything other than the idiotic role of hiring manager of consultants. that is the most idiotic thing i have ever heard. there could be few exceptional bad apples but with any descent sized reputable company a manager would risk going to jail and being sued by employer and future life and career screwed if he eats commission like that. i have seen people getting fired and stripped naked for doing this again incidentaly some desis who attempted it. there would be lot of other real or perceived services provided by consulting companies which are keeping a huge chunk of the hourly rate and will keep the person on bench for descent time give other benefits train them and yes with this kind of idiotic software packages train some guy picked up from the street and put him to work. if someone gets a job like that he should be more than happy with 55/hour. dont know what is the educational background of this gentleman who has started the thread but i would like to know what makes him so super special to earn salary of say even 150/hour or 100/hour out of what he thinks is the billing rate of 180/hour that will propel him to about top 3% earners in the economy.

I was about to send the e-mail and then I decided to clarify this before jumping on to it.
I am not sure if I am asking the right question, but I am just curious what is the point in sending same e-mails to the editor of the newspaper ? From my experience in talking to them, they seems to be looking for issues and when you have something valid they print. Also a single e-mail from IV talking about us (on behalf of 6000 of us) and the issues we are facing would have sufficed ? Right ? or I am missing something ? I know e-mail as faxes work for political campaign to show numbers but not seen it in news media ?

By sending more emails, we are making the media cognizant of the fact that its not one person but hundreds of thousands of people. Also, these emails are mostly read by interns and they sort them( In big outlets atleast) The more the emails on same issue from diff people with diff body with same bottom line story gives us a better chance. USCIS found out that I attended IV Social Event and sent me my EAD ;)..
