However with L1 visas - it is pure high tech slave labour. The L1 visa holders are dumped in client places all over the USA and they are paid even lower wages than their H1B counterparts and on top of that the L1 visa absolutely prohibits the visa holder from changing employers. The typical lifcycle of a L1 visa holder is to come to USA, learn from their US counterparts, co-ordinate between the US client and the offshore team back in India, save as much money as possible to pay off for the 2 bed room apartment or car back in India and then at the end of six months , beg their employers for a new project in USA. And during all this time they have to keep up a brave face - saying they dont really "like to stay in USA". Talk about "grapes being sour".
However these companies typically are financially in a much better position and have stronger lobbies than small time desi bodyshoppers sponsoring H1 candidates - so USCIS haven't really got the guts to look into their activities as compared to desi bodyshops.

If you are inviting high skilled workers you better make sure you have the laws to protect your businesses (employers) and the workers (us) in a fair and balanced manner. The conditions should not be such that either one can exploit the other. But currently we are almost used as slaves due to loopholes in the law and ineffeciencies in the immgration agency which allow the employer to exploit the high skilled immigrants.

I know this guy who was a junior to me and reporting to me in India. I resigned and moved with another company and later moved to US. After an year I joined the same company which I was working in India. Now this guy, just because having some relation with the VP made some arrangement and came to US on L1 and applied under EB1 and got his GC in 1.5 years. More over he was no good as manager and a pathetic programmer. Also he did no good to the company actually lost a few clients and when he got his ass on fire he moved to other company and started working as a pathetic programmer with his GC

I know what I am about to say will trigger a lot of reaction and some resentment, but it has to be said on behalf of those who are not Indian. I think the per country limit is to ensure that people of all nationalities and races have an equal opportunity to obtain a green card and to ensure that no one nationality, group, or even sector (i.e. IT) monopolizes the so few visas that are available. In fact, in the visa lottery, countries become excluded when the number of immigrants from them reach a certain point, so we are lucky they do not do that in the Employment-based system!
I think that by wanting to remove the per country limit so more Indians can avail of the green card quota is both asking for "special treatment" and a slap in the face for all the non-Indian IV members. The more I read the threads on this site, the more I feel that this organization is geared just to one ethnic group. I am sure that Indians probably make up the majority of members, but the founders of IV (I hope) did not want this organization to become one-sided! Please be considerate of ALL members and try to come up with suggestions that would benefit ALL members!!!:mad:

Even after independence, Nehru had very strong majority goverment. Still he had a problems in ruling the country. He had lot of vision in economy, poverty, socialism etc.. But he and subsequent PMs (mostly congress) failed becuse of unimaginable local issues based on India's diversity and polygenious nature of the state. India is a victim of its own diversity and long/old (and strong) regional history. This diversity includes language, tradition, culture, food habit, religion, caste and so on. Therefore, India is victim of its own division and diversity. India is untied or born in 1947 because of British rule. Infact, there is no country called Republic of India before 1947. Indian constitution (or concept of united India) is brand new compare to regional history. Naturally, regional interest always prevails. So ruling India is still a new and uphill task. 60 years is very less to come to conclusion. Thats why, all congress PMs had failed in reforms. And now in the information age, India become materialistic, everybody wants everything. So naturally corruption increases. So one can not blame just congress alone for the mess.

For my spouse, I've to take care of all the fees for I-485 / I-765 / I-131 / Biometric ( $325 + $180 + $170 + $ 70). For me, I've to take care only I-131 Fees ( $170). The Company Pays the fees only for my I-485 and I-765 and also take care of the Attorney Fees for both of us. They also reimburse the Medical Expenses, if the insurance does not cover the charges, only for Employee/ Primary applicant. For all dependents it is my responsibility.
