I read a similar rant on IV a few years ago, that was when I learned about this rule/law/requirement (immigrants required to carry immigration documents on them).
These days, I don't ever leave home without my EAD card, if I am going anywhere within driving distance of where I live. If I fly, I usually carry my passport as well (not sure if that is any good since I am on AOS exclusively, but I do).

Even though IV has 25000 "registered" members. There are only 400-500 visitors. The same people visit the site often. The number of visitors dramatically increase, if there are newsworthy events that affects most of the people.
So the sample size is NOT 25K but around 500, based on the daily visits.
This of course is not a whole lot but Idea is not to be statistically correct but to feed newsworthy information to the Media, and here are the facts.

Thanks abracadabra for agreeing to the point. It is really funny isn't it, when you notice people fighting over God's? Just the thought of fighting to support your God shows that you really dont belive in his/her strength or you dont really know what God is!! If thats the case, how would that power qualify to be GOD?? Whether it is in Inda/pakisthan/middle east/africa, wherever people fight to save their God/gods are just fighting to avoid confronting their own insecurity:-) What is the difference between me getting insulted on seeing Ganeshas picture on a beer bottle or Jesus's picture on the toilet seat and a circle with two dots as eyes on a person's BUTT, which he claims to represent ME (thomas)? Most of us do not read their opinions and try to broaden our knowledge. We never get beyond what our parents taught us about GOD and religion. What is worse still is that the allegorical descriptions in religious texts are now treated as facts and we often end up arguing over these as well.
Having said that, there is nothing wrong in believing in GOD. There is also nothing wrong if someone is not convinced about the existence of GOD. There are valid philosophical arguments for both cases. Lack of mutual respect and failing to see others point of view is what is causing this rift.

How do you know that the labour process has slowed down from Mar 01 2011 ? Any source for this info? Please share.

As far as I know there are atleast 5-6K applicants waiting with PDs before Dec-2003. Considering 3 visas used for each applicant. There'll be a requirement of atleast 15-20K Green Card numbers for Indian EB3 to clear people up to Dec'2003. While EB3 gets a maximum of 3K/Year. My guess is it'll take 5-6 Years to get the EB3 to Dec'2003.
Including spillover generally EB3-I clears up around 5000 visas per year on average ( Though theoratically stuck at 3300-3500). 3 visas per applicant is at bit high end. I would not assume everybody is married AND have child.. I would put that around 1.75. But, yes, even if select these new parameters than also it would take years..Theoratically, ofcourse:):)

Premise of the Green Card (and H1-B for that matter) is that an American citizen or a Permanent resident was not available with required skill sets for the work to be done.
Scrutiny at H1-B was traditionally a lot relaxed because it is temporary in nature by definition. A lot us seem to assume that Green Card is a natural progression from H1-B. In Employment Based GC, burden of proof lies with the organizations. I have worked with small and big organizations, and I am yet to come across an organization that will go out of the way or makes exceptions to an employee at the risk of its reputation or facing legal hassles.
When I had a choice to make may be 5 years back, a friend of mine advised me. If you have GC, big corporations can employ you easily, but if the big corporations employ you, it is not easy to get GC. (particularly because the HR would not be so easily accessible, but "control" is what he was alluding to.)
I took his advise, and landed a "desi" company, which was not so "desi" in its thought process and treatment though. They were flexible, at the same time, great to work with, paid very well and took care of expenses at actuals. I was lucky enough to have landed where I had.
One has to know very well, what one wants to do and where one one wants to head. If the over-riding factor is a GC application, find out where you get the flexibility. On the other hand, if an over riding factor is a satisfaction to work with big name companies, then you know how it works. No point blaming companies.

I got hell out of my sponsoring employer. While I worked for them over 5 years, I had a terrible experience with their HR and some other souls. So I decided to make use of AC21 and changed the job. I feel so much relaxed now and I see light at the end of tunnel. My Green card is around the corner. USCIS has no reason to deny my petition. Afterall, we have just one life to live; how long you can let your career stegnate just for the sake of a piece of paper. Does that makes sense at all?

In this unprecedented financial turmoil, I feel there are very remote chances for CIR or any package which increase immigration etc would pass, I am taking this initiative to gather as many people I can and go to washington. Again this is not an IV effort. If you are with me , you can spare some time or few days in Washington, please PM me. our sole agenda is bring a 2 line bill to remove country quota...
