Because of my one of the diseases I am always worried about DISABILITY insurance.
I always try to get Short term and Long Term disability insurances through employer.
But the problem is they always start with long preexisting exlusions and when you change jobs they dont continue so have to start new one which also has other new preexisting exlusions to start.
You can convert your longterm disability to the personal policy if you have that for long time. but they are not valid if you get new job.
Is there any private/personal (not employer sponsored) Short and long term DISABILITY Insurance policies that we can purchase out side of the job.? How are the premiums? Are they reliable?
also do any of you know case where LIFE INSURANCE was actually paid and how easy/hard the process was for family?
Also similar experiences if some one know if any one used DISABILITY INSURANCE and how hard it was?

Hello,
i am lawful permanent resident. I want to bring my parents here permanently. I got nobody in India to take care of my parents.
When i was small, my parents took care of me. When i need them, they are their for me.
Now my parents need me. But i am not their for them. I feel very guilty and sad. I want to bring my parents in US. So i can take care of them.
How can i bring my parents permanently.
I know, i can bring them after i get citizenship, that is too long wait.
i just want to bring them now. So they can have good life with me. Anybody know, how can i bring them in US soon.
i saw some petition signed by many Indians for this request. Can somebody please go forward with this.
Current president will understand our request and help us. He is very nice and kind person. He loves family and his mother in law lives with his family. He knows values of grand parents.
Indians live with family, that makes Indian family stronger and less divorce. And Indian kids are well taken care by grand parents. So they are well behaved and best kids.
We need this permission. Please work together and get this permission.
I read this in a website. Is this possible? I want to explore all possible steps.
Please help.
God bless you.
Green Card for Parents - Sponsoring Parents for Green Card
Green Card Process for My Parents (Mother, Father)
An immigrant (also called a "lawful permanent resident" and Green Card holder) is a foreign national who has been granted the privilege of living and working permanently in the United States. Your parents (mother, father) must go through a multi-step process to obtain a Green Card and become an immigrant. First, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) must approve an immigrant petition that you file for your parents. Second, the State Department must give your parents an immigrant visa number, even if they are already in the United States. Third, if your parents are already in the United States legally, they may apply to adjust to permanent resident status. If they are outside the United States, they will be notified to go to the local U.S. Consulate to complete the processing for an immigrant visa (Green Card).
 :D

I don't think it will make a huge amount of difference. The visa loss is due to lack of manpower in processing applications. Now there will be even more applications and presumably no extra hands to approve them.

My request for help on the following post http://immigrationvoice.org/forum/showthread.php?t=12255 is not going well, I am still waiting to hear from analytical minds.
Anyways, we are in process of creating an eye opener fact sheet that we will be distributed with the promotional fliers. The objective of the fact sheet is create a sense of urgency and draw people's interest to DC rally.
I am looking for ideas as to what to put in the fact sheet, while I am still waiting to hear on my other post.
Please contribute you thoughts. We need to get this completed in couple of days.
Will send info asap when I'm done with a few other action items. I do encourage further breakdown based on area of chargability, but this is a great idea.
Please contribute folks!

Which service center processed your I-140 ? For Eb2 cases, USCIS ( especially NSC) doesn't accept a combination of degree and experience. They require a single 4 year degree.
You should not completely give up on this. Get a good lawyer, a good education evaluator and try to save the case.

Good find !! After reading this article, I guess, USCIS would well support our demand for filing I-485 when PDs not current as it will give them more $$$ from EAD and AP extensions.
GOOD ARTICLE FROM WP.COM EYE OPENING..
What ever we will do USCIS will never finish Backlog... THIS IS CALLED SCAM.

We have to let congress know about this scam.

house Tom Delonge, Harry Potter,
The way USCIS functions, I would rather see the movement of the dates back rather than forward...why?
This is the time when USCIS actually TRIES to follow FIFO: meaning tries to work on old cases. Last quarter is usually a mess and approval pattern goes to TB to BB (top of the box to bottom of the box).
So, It is a actually a good thing, if PD stays there or moves back; that will make USCIS work on approving older cases at this time.
It is also a good sign that DOS mentioned that "they are waiting from USCIS for pending numbers": that means, they actually asked for those!!!!!! AND USCIS is working on it (or atleast told them so). This has been the crux of all the visa number movements including random approvals. If this is sorted out somehow, it will be a great deal of improvement in implementing FIFO system to some extent. If USCIS gives that info to DOS, there will be someone (DOS) to ask USCIS: WHY DO YOU NEED TO MOVE PD FORWARD TO 2008 WHILE YOU HAVE SO MANY THOUSANDS OF CASES FROM 2000-2005 PENDING??
Unfortunately, they now will not have any excuses (with security check and name check moving towards "current": thanks to FBI), they WILL have to increase their efficiency in processing the cases!:)

SVN,
this poll is a good idea to understand what most of the members expect from CORE. I for one am looking for any updates about (1) new bills being proposed that we can support - calls, faxes etc and (2) any infomation that can help to "predict" whats happening with USCIS efforts to use all visa # (yeah, sorry.. had to use predict and USCIS in same sentence) (3) updates on efforts towards FOIA, country caps remoal, capture of unused #s, .... and anything and everything you can throw at me about immigration...
but I also understand that most of these lobbying efforts are done in the back ground and its not good idea to share anything in these times. who knows, may be there is an anti-immigrant lurking around (ofcourse paying $$ to become Donor, become senior member whatever) to get inside information. I would rather trust the CORE to do their work and give me directions when they see fit.. like meeting local senators etc..
transparancy is good as long as it doesn't hurt the cause. I agree with the fact that we pooled $10K in March for FOIA and core gave the game plan and now everyone who contributed wants to know. fine. but you can't expect core to have a goal a month just to get contributions, this is a grass-roots organization and any highly skilled legal immigrant should be able to donate $25 without waiting for updates every week.. I don't think asking updates every week because you contributed $25 or $50 is fair.. just my thoughts..

I lived in Canada for a year. I also worked in my own country before coming to the US. At least in my experience and from talking to dozens of friends in Canada, my home country offers more potential for revenue than Canada. You will see it when you move there.
I will never forget when I landed in Canada in Toronto back in 1998, I met a girl at the airport and many at the Hostelling International who told me lots of stories on why I should go to the US instead. That particular girl was living in the US illegally.
I am sorry to tell you that leaving the US and going to Canada may not be a solid plan B.
Why don't you start a similar forum for "going back to
India" ? I hate to burst your "bubble of hope" but Canadian population and job market is limited and the opportunities for professionals like us are limited. Why not consider going back to India and taking up some of the lucrative opportunities in middle management in the IT industry.
The Indian economy is booming and the salaries are excellent. You just need to make some adjustments with quality of life (pollution, traffic). Atleast its better than going to Canada, living in limbo while looking for suitable jobs for a long-time, sometimes even doing odd jobs just to make ends meet. I hate our Indian mentality that "every place in the world is better than our own country". Give me a break guys.
My plan of action is very clear: Go back to India and live there happily. If there are other opportunities in US then come back.
Cheers.

wa ever suits u..pea brain..
there was nothing in my post to get offended abt...
the book was called Q&A.. how do u end up with a title of SlumDOG..
u jump me.,..just because i call the bluff of fake liberals on this board..
You can't even write a single sentence right and you call me pea brain? "Wa, U, abt, pickel, alcohall" that’s shows me where you stand. Anyhow, I don't give a rat’s ass about what you have with Gvenkat, but don't generalize and write some fucked up nonsense. I fully know who you refer when you say "Curd rice and Pickle" so don’t assume that everyone else is a moron and that you are above everyone.
How the heck you assume that I am fake liberal? What you state and what you accuse others are 2 different things, first go read some books and improve your knowledge and then come here. No wonder you choose Pointless as your screen name!!!

I have a different situation.
My EAD was sent back to USCIS beacuse they forgot to include apt#.
I called USCIS and they rectified the error told me that they will resend it again.
I have got the I765 receipt but not EAD card.
I called them again, they sent me letter saying that they will consider this case as lost in mail beacuse they did not get the returned EAD from poast office.
USCIS sent me a letter asking me to apply again.
DO I need to pay fee for that? It was mistake from USCIS side they have address wrong!
Does any body know what to do?

I couldn't really find any information about the appeal process on the LC once it is denied. the ironic thing is that my first LC was approved then after I got promoted to a senior position and applied for a second LC, the 2nd LC was denied because they think there is no difference between the 1st and 2nd position. does the DOL have an automatic system that processes the LC and that why it coudn't see the difference between the 2 positions??
where can i find more info about the appeal process?? any links to go to??
Styrum: did your lawyer give you any info on how long the appeal process takes? and the probability of success in the appeal?? Thanks
The appeal process is described in PERM regulations:
http://www.foreignlaborcert.doleta.gov/pdf/PERM_Final_Rule_12-27-04_FR.pdf
4-6 months that's what I heard from an attorney. The reason I am preparing 2nd filing is that the chance of approval of my first PERM on appeal is slim. Yes the initial reason for denial is bogus, but they may still deny it because of "too restrictive requirements"
