  • If I had my green card today, I would surely be making at least 15K more in my salary per annum repeat per annum.

If not all, many of you are in the similar situation.

My $200 contribution is just 1.33% of that lost opportunity per annum. If I take into consideration the 4 years of wait, it comes to 0.33%.

Almost anybody who is in US for 5 years on H1B can buy an nice little home. (Bay area is bit more cruel).

Last year I could have bought a home for say 500K. It would have surely appreciated by 50K. But because of the uncertainty of GC, I can not. That's a loss of opportunity of 50K.

My $200 contribution is just 0.4% of that another lost opportunity.

Now you know why I support this effort.

Most of you and your friends are in a situation similar as mine.
I urge you to become aware, make them aware and support this effort, which has a potential to minimize those lost financial opportunities, with your wallet.

    Thanks,

    nviren
    Great way to put it!
Hope you can post it at the other Forum where a lot of people do not seem to get it!

07/10/2007: Response of USCIS Director to Visa Bulletin Fiasco Related Flower Campaign

We reported yesterday that foreign professionals have been sending flowers to the heads of involved agencies with a message of protest for the ongoing visa bulletin fiasco. Dr. Emilio Gonzalez responded to such flower campaign in the USCIS site. The flower campaign appears to be a gesture from the community of foreign professionals to thaw out the tension created by the fiasco and at the same time calling the agency leaders' swift attention to the problem and sufferings of the foreign professionals and their family members. This camapaign has been initiated and pushed ahead by the immigrationinvoice.com group. Salute to the members of this group for the job well done.

  • I don't have a paypal account, but I would like to contribute, is there any other way that I can send my money to you?

    Thanks.

    CWYGC,

you don't need a paypal account. Once you click on the paypal link on the IV homepage, it will give you an option to just use your credit card. That's how I contributed too.

    Good Luck :-)

  • The following statistics reflect a steady increase in the number of I-485 applications (including family-based and other cases) during the months before the July VB fiasco hit the roof as is shown in the following table:

    Month New Receipt Total Pending
    June 2007 69,098 597,844

It is not possible to have 600K total pending cases (= EB + Family + Asylum + Refugee + ...) cases because there were 1,275,795 pending cases in March (according to Ombudsman) AND it is not possible to give 600K+ GCs in 3 months: EB + Family = 140K + 226K = 366K.

So my understanding is that there were 600K pending EB cases in June. Does family-based GC application have I-485 stage?

  • it might seem like eb2 has moved.. and it has from last month...but this is where we were at in april 2006 (may2006 bulletin -1st jan 2003) before the dates stagnated for a cupl of months, became unavailable and finally moved backwards in october.

so basically no movement for 7 months.

Yes. You got it . That's their trick.....(sadly).

  • If this is true, it is really scary for people who are solely on EAD and no longer hold H1 status.

It's true, here is the link:

    read example on page 10.

However with country cap in place and if EB-ROW candidates are in plenty, India and China cannot advance even if visa numbers are available.

  • According to this data...once we get to Dec. 2005 - Jan 2006 PDs, we will hit a MAJOR MAJOR roadblock....
Now, I just say this based on the PERCENTAGES here. Do we know the the absolute number of PDs, post Dec. 2005?

  • Incorrect. Please go back and see old threads for action items. Just because you do not see any action item right now, you cannot flush down all our hard work in the last 2 years. You are enjoying your 2 year EAD because of the hard work of our Admin fix campaign in 2008. Please stop blaming the organization. If you wish to lead it, come forward and take charge of your state chapter as a start, lead and deliver results. IV is everyone and each member's responsibility.

kudos to what u accomplished in July 2007, but the reality is we haven't seen any major action after that. I guess its mostly frustration from ppl here, who think that the US housing/EB crisis can be pursued aggressively than expecting for CIR to happen.

    thanks

  • Two factors:

    1.) Personal Choice

    2.) Job security.

If you work for a good company - buy one. If your job is dicey, don't.

  • msgs like this help establish the notion that this is an indian website dedicated to indian immigration issues. I didnt see any post wishing happy Eid/ Eid Mubarak nor did I notice last year that anyone wished a Merry Christmas/ Happy Holidays, nor do we wish our Chinese friends a Happy Chinese New Year.

Dude - my perspective changed after I started living in New York City. Last week we attended a diwali event and it was just not Indians there but all nationalities were present there and everyone were greeting diwali wishes.

I lived in Bombay for 10 years and we celebrated every festival like Durga Puja, Holi, Christmas, we used to have Ramadan fast break lunches and everything.

Living in a cosmopolitan society, one must celebrate and respect every culture and their festivals. Thats the only way to achieve unity.

  • Undocumented Immigration can be solved within a week. But no politician or anti-immigrant wants to talk about it.

SIMPLY PUNISH THE EMPLOYERS EMPLOYING UNDOCUMENTED.

Just put some US citizens who hire undocumented in Jail and then nobody will hire undocumented. All undocumented problem will be solved. But nobody wants to enforce laws on US Citizens. But everyone wants to enforce laws on undocumented because they do not see these undocumented as human beings.

Instead of deporting 14 million undocumented, and wasting money on this. Just punish 1 thousand US citizens for employing undocumented. I am sure you will see some hidden anti-immigrants being jailed too. The greedy employers promote undocumented immigration by employing them, exploiting them and paying less salary. Why not punish the employers.

No anti immigration site wants to actively work on this action item. WHY?

  • Pappu,

I agree with all most all of your points except one. You talk about everybody being part of Core IV when you say "Now coming to your question about core team. Core team is nothing but people like you."

That simply cannot happen because then IV as a whole would be acting like a headless chicken. Everyone now a days seems to be starting a drive, throwing tantrums at fellow IVians etc. This has to stop as per most of passive members, it means directionlessness.

I've a suggestion. Let's ask our members, those who want to be the core. Let's restrict the core group membership to 20-25. If we get more responses, we can poll for the most favorite candidates on the forum. Similarly we can ask all of our members for the drives they want to support and poll for the drives. The most favorite five drives then become IV's drives. Most people will not work unless they are given clear instructions. The reason FOIA drive became successful was because it was coordinated well, gave a clear direction to the members and had a clear goal. That is why we raised more money than required for that drive. We need similar type of purposeful drives which will keep all of us motivated. The forum members may vote out a core team member, if they are dissatisfied, I mean we can employ all types of checks and balances for an efficient core team and an efficient drive system.

A ship can have thousands of oarsmen but it needs an able captain to take it to the shore. If you ask me, I'll vote for you as the captain. :)

  • knnmbd,

Let me also repost what I had posted in reply to your post earlier.

    knnmbd,

We have spoken to AILA about this and we're regularly in touch with many other immigration lawyers. As logiclife had pointed out the interest of AILA is elsewhere. In fact my company's immigration lawyer told us earlier that it is not in the interest of companies to shorten the green card process.

There are only very few broad minded lawyers like Rajeev Khanna, Mathew Oh and Shusterman who support our cause. For after all if we get our GCs quickly, the lawyers will not get money for H-1 extensions, EAD extensions, AP extensions and so on. Moreover if the GC process becomes simple and quick, many people might self petition and cut out the the middleman.

Another thing to note is that, AILA has very little support from Republicans.

  • Mr.Bheemi,

Think twice before you post something on the forum, IV is a volunteer organization and core members are spending their valuable time to do something good for all of us.

If you think items need to be prioritized, share your thoughts, work with core team, post some analysis which makes sense, etc.

    -SR

I am suprprised if IV is working towards abiltiy to file 485 and hard country limit...Just want to know how IV is working towards these 2 items...
If any of these two wont show out in coming bill,..then I would say goodbye to IV..because all other items in bill were there without IV;s interaction....

Can somebody calrify if these options will anyway include in this bill..by means of ammendements...

    Dear Aman,

This letter is regarding the article "Say it with flowers: Gandhigiri for US green cards" published by the Indian Express on Wednesday, July 11, 2007. The article erroneously indicated that Robinder Sachdev from USINPAC was a coordinator of the flower protest initiative. As you obviously know, this is incorrect. I assure you that Mr. Sachdev did not make this false representation. We are reaching out to the reporter requesting they publish a clarification. USINPAC is aware that the flower plan was originated and organized by Immigration Voice and has responded to all enquiries accordingly. Please feel free to call (202-276-7946) or email me on this, if you have any further questions.

You most probably have half the education that I have, your salary is most likely half that of mine, and your moral standard is probably half that of mine. If I start ridiculing you more, you will suffer sleepless nights. So I won't do it (after this post, I mean).

You don't post bullshit in a public forum, just because you can't see the people you are talking to, infront of you. Would you dare call the original poster 'thief' if he is standing infront of you? Would you call him that, if he is a friend of your roommate and your roommate brings him over to your house? The internet must be a new technology for you. Please learn how to use it to spread some love.

Isnt the goal of Education to make a person a better person, morally and otherwise? Is this what your education got you to? All of your Education (I am assuming you have four MS degrees, two PHd, as you have twice mine, and about 300K salary) is a total waste, if you stick up your head to support someone who does shop-lifting and have no qualms about it ( i have definitely not seen any statement to that effect from the OP, just seeking "immigration" advise). I can only think of a myriad number of reasons why you want to support this guy..maybe you yourself might have sticky hands my friend? Or maybe you are the same guy posting with two IDs and supporting your shop-lifting by such BS? I have no idea and am not interested either.

Try browsing the anti-immigrant nut websites and try answering their type-casting immigrants by the acts of few, and then you will understand what i am talking about. Till, then, probably, you can take all of your fancy-a** education, fat salary and shove it up!
