EB3 ROW PD is back to 2002, as mentioned in this thread, however this case (like my own) highlights that you don't have to have PD current at time of GC approval. What makes this extra surprising is that this is a JULY filer (I was June).

If you say we are paing taxes so we should get greencard. That does not make sense. We are using roads, hospitals, infrastucture of this country and we pay taxes as long we live here.
If you say we invent new things, start Google etc then these people qualify for EB1 and it is always current.
If you say we have USA masters then we can apply in EB2. EB2 will get current next year or its wait time is going to decrease and will be 2 years max. So 2 years or less is a reasonable processing time within a 6 year H1B processing time.
I am playing devils advocate here and trying to tell you to think beyond pleading. We did not come to this country to plead. Once you start thinking negative there are many negatives as I have written above and you will go in depression.

I work for a large corporation and did talk to them seiorusly. They expressed their sympathy :) :) :) Nothing more !!!

I humbly disagree with your opinion on EB2 becoming current. I think it will take 10 - 12 years to cross 2007. I do not wish for it, but that is the reality [assuming a vey high % age of porting (everyone eligible has a right to port, I am not questioning that)]
It is unfortunate that we do not the money or vote power. Like it or not, we have to follow the beaten track of "Prayer and Petition". Non US Citizen kids have to pay International college fees even if their parents have paid local taxes for 10 years. That is pathetic! I know people who had to separate from their families and send their familes to India as they could not afford paying International tuition fees which is about $ 45000.00 per annum.This solely affects Indians / Chinese. This literally makes you an outcast just because you do not hold a GC! Just think of some of the hardships people are facing.
If people from EU were to be back logged like Indians / Chinese, things would have been different!

My case is even more complicated. I am working for Company A, valid H1, but no stamping. I applied GC thru company B and got AP/EAD.
I used AP twice for two trips, India and Bahamas. Just showed AP at POE, no issues at all.

I received my EAD last month. But no AP yet. However, i received an email from my lawyer today that.....my AP got rejected. The rejection letter is saying that I485 got approved that's why the I131 is rejected.....therefore, my lawyer is waiting for the I485 approval.....but my lawyer told me that I can expect my card soon.
I don't know how to react. The online doesn't have any update about the I485 status yet. They received my application on July 2, 2007.

Your intentions are good - but the approach you took needs to be refined further. None of what I wrote above is personally against you - I appreciate your efforts but feel that we need to approach it differently - probably equating updates with money is not a good approach given that once someone gives money , they may start having a feeling of entitlement and we may not be ready to handle it.

I hear a lot of SS going bankrupt etc., but hey, even in the worst case scenario, they talk about reducing SS, not abandoning it. So, you subsidize the older Americans but no one susidizes you when you are old.

NRE - you can only deposit funds from abroad, but cannot deposit funds into it from India. Havent repatriated back - so not so sure abt those rules
NRO - you can deposit funds from abroad & any money you receive in India - eg. if u get rent, or your PPF money etc. Bank will also deduct TDS on the interest you earn in this account. Not so with NRE. Legally, when you leave India, if you do not close your accounts, you shd change the status of ur existing a/c to NRO.
As far as the issue being faced by OP - dont know how much money we're talking abt here, but if your folks send u thru legal channels, they will have to explain why the money is being sent.
