Though my in-laws had an early appointment(945am, Chennai Consulate India) last month, they got their PP next day only. So they had to stay one more day in Chennai.

L1A valid for 7 years so you can continue working with A.
Apply GC from B asap and switch to B as soon as labor(PERM) passes 365 days.

For PERM, first 4-6 month goes in preperation so actual Labor waiting start from the day you apply PERM so you should count this preperation time + 365 days.
You might eligible for premium I140 so you don't have to go through this 365 days waiting to extend H1B.

Yeah.. sometimes I've had to rework things that didn't quite work well enough the first time, broken apart.
The dialsplash above was actually the 12th attempt or so at getting that right. Initialy I was using the texture of the stone broken apart and then filled. That looked fine.. but the symbols on the timeline didn't look good at all. I ended up importing the symbols to Painter6.0, creating the wheel there, with the symbols in place, and then using the whole thing as a fill.
It may be that gifs look worse when imported than png's (ok there is no doubt that they look worse, but I mean proportionaly). That would explain why my pgn texture looked good when my gif symbols looked like crap.
I'll have to do some more experimenting with that.. just to see what the deal is.

Our I-485 got approved on 10/01/2010. Yes porting PD and interfiling works. Follow the instructions in my IV blog

Do I need to take separate appointments for my wife....I mean can I take one appointment on one Receipt # and check the status of hers too at infopass? On telephone call they always ask for the applicant when checking the status.
I'll take an infopass then...did u call us the customer service before the infopass...I am sure they'd have told you that your dependents are approved...I am sure infopass agent see the same screen as the customer reps at the Nat serv centers.

My friend received a letter from USCIS in response to his phone call asking then why they have not taken a decision inspite of 60 days expired after responding RFE. This is what the letter mentions.
The status of this service request is:
Your application is pending the availability of 3rd preference employment based Visas. Currently there are none available. You are invited to visit the Department of State website where you may keep abreast of any developments regarding this classification of Visa.
What does this mean ? Now, he don't have to worry about any future RFE/Denials ? Can he make his future plans assuming he will get his GC one day ?? His PD is 2001.

I have got LUD on my AP (approved last year) on 7/27/08 (sunday).

I am not an attorney, but I have seen people using 3 yrs of experience to count for 1 year of education. And EB2 category needs at least 5 years of experience in the job area in which you will be applying PERM.
Thus, 3 years of education + 3 yrs of exprience + 5 years of experience = EB2 category.
You will need an Expert letter for an accredited Evaluation to prove that 3 years of education+experience = 4 yrs of education.
I have myself not done it, but I have met few people in the past who did that.
And as far as second question goes, I have not heard anything like that at all. If you are inclined to do online course for one year, I suggest you to do Masters (1.5 years of education and .half year of research project).

Btw, one twist I have is that my birth certificate is in Punjabi. How should I get that translated. Is there a procedure? Or simply should/can I get some equivalent, such as affidavite from my parents attested by some govt authority etc.,
Also, in case I can't make it now (depends on preponing air tickets etc), may I have to wait couple of more years. My priority date is Mar'05 and EB2. Some rough idea atleast..

Did any one get an RFE to prove educational qualifications for EB3.
The reason I am doing paper based is that current immigration question. In efile you have to make a selection which apparently doesnt have the AOS option. On paper based we can put, Adjustment of Status (I-485 Pending).
You are not as bad as you think. Read USCIS guidance on the subject. If your I-140 is not approved by 180 days, you can still use AC21. In that case, the adjudicator while looking at your I-485, sees if filed I-140 was approvable. If so, you are good to go, provided you can prove that you have a new same/similar job offer.

Thanks jsb....I didn't know this....But I think its still better if I wait for 140 approval...Then atleast one other uncertainty will be removed from my GC journey...Hopefully it would only take a month or two more than normal processing time for my 140...If it gets delayed further, then I might use it anyways..It's nice to know though that I have an option..Thanks again

Online tracking or toll-free numbers tracking is really useless. It doesnt say much about the content of correspondence.
The automated messages(online and phone) say one of the 5-6 standard recorded messages. Nothing more. If there is an RFE, its says there was an "Inquiry". It doesnt say what the RFE was about whehter it was about the beneficiary or the employer. If you talk to a live person, they say that you are not entitled to information as you are the beneficiary and you need to talk to the petitioner or lawyer of the petitioner.
What you need is COPIES of everything that the lawyer sends out to USCIS. Preferably BEFORE he sends out that fedex. So that you can verify yourself if they have made typos or mistakes in names, dates, etc.(most common paperwork errors).
