I have used my labor for H1 extensions twice since running out of 6 year term, and have I140 pending with another extension coming up soon. I will not be able to use PP to get a 3 year tranche.

I wanted to know how critical are the tax returns for GC processing. I am asking this because i have filed the tax returns for 2006 as married even though i got married in January'07.
Now my marriage certificate reflects jan'07 and the tax return for 2006 was filed as joint.
Will this be of issue in the processing? Is there a way out from this, like readjust the tax returns?
Any help in this regard with be greatly appreciated.

Incorrect tax return will not necessarily impact your 485 application.
But knowingly filing an incorrect tax return may result in substantial fine if IRS figures it out. They do not have to necessarily find it this year - I believe an audit can be triggered anytime uptil about 7 years.
Saving 5000 dollars or so with an incorrect tax return is good if you can live in the fear of future audit for the next seven years.
The reason I stated "knowingly" filing an incorrect tax return is based on your statements. Clearly at this point you know your tax returns were wrong but because of penalty that you may have to pay, you dont want to amend it. Sure, if you are lucky , nothing will happen to you but thats not a chance I would like to take. Just my 2 cents.

However, I have not vacated my old apt....still paying rent and keeping it as my current one, and sharing accommodation with others in the new city where I am working....because of the only reason that I fear, which is an RFE.

RFE shall not stop you from doing the right thing and as long as you have all the necessary documents and employment. If I were you, I would not hesitate to update my address and pay rent for my old apartment.

That depends on what your needs are. New or used camera? Already have some lenses/accessories? How much of a system are you going to build (how many/type of lenses needed)? Do you have friends who also have a DSLR system, from which you might borrow stuff? Do you have a possibility/need for rentals close to where you live? ...

Get yourself a good lawyer. As far as I know Up to 180 days of out of status can be managed. As your case is in removal proceedings, it may further complicate your situation.
Even if you get an Advance Parole, do not use it. Your reentry will have issue. You may send a private message.

Hi scubadude. Everyone is giving great advice. Honestly I would stay away from photoshop for now and concentrate on getting the best image you can make when you press the shutter. That will save you a lot of time over the long run. We all struggle at this but if you train yourself to do these steps you'll be waaaay ahead of the game:
1. "See" the picture you want before you take it
Let's take this pic for example and for sake of argument your goal is to make a portrait/headshot.
Armed with that information you can make the following decisions:
a. I need to blur that background so I need a wide aperture, better switch to aperture priority and crank it up.
b. humans need catchlights in their eyes so i better use some fill flash (you do have your flash mounted all the time right? lol)
c. hmmm even though she's got a heart of gold and a great smile she gets rather stern looking when i stick this big camera in her face so I have a choice. I can hang out and get a couple of candids when her guard is down, or I can talk to her and get her feeling comfortable about what i'm doing and how she looks.
d. these dang digital slr's are sooooo unforgiving to these poor ladies that i'll bump up my exposure compensation +1/3 to +2/3 to give her a brighter, "cleaner" look.
e. ok now remember to get the focus point on those eyes and get the eyes above the centerline.
got it? one more quick scan.......looks ok. click.

This is a very good point ,if illegal under guest worker program can pursue a path to a citizenship after 6yrs provided that they can show they have paid taxes, learn English and pass background check...Why can't we ask the same for us, we have entered US legally without breaking any law, are paying taxes and are highly educated let aside learn English. I am currently on OPT which is valid till July 2009. Also, my H1-B is approved through a company X starting oct 2008. Currently I got a job with company Y on my OPT. Can I continue to work on my OPT with company Y till July 2009? OR Do I need to transfer my H1B to company Y from company X to be able to continue to work after Oct 2008? If so, do I need any paystubs from company X. What can be the start date on the offer letter from company X.
Please help. Your guidance is truly appreciated.

That's NOT right. AC-21 Yates Memo states that:
As long as your I-140 is not revoked and your I-485 is NOT adjudicated with in 6 months, you are covered by AC-21 portability law. That means you can change jobs before six months (with or without EAD) and still continue with you GC process.
The chances of I-485 being adjudicated in six month is quite low. Stick to your current job for 2 months, remain on payroll for few months by forgoing PTO/Severance. That would give you 3-4 months. Then change your job with H1B and let your I-140/I-485 continue as it is. Send AC-21 letter at the end of 5th month. I think you should stick to your current employer.
Please check old thread on AC-21 discussions and the following link should be useful.
