Dont worry. With proper documentation you can prove that you dont have an immigration intent NOW. What matters is the immigration intent NOW.
Logically NOT filing 485 and LEAVING US for a lengthier period of time itself is a hint towards non-immigration intent. (I agree that USCIS might not always follow the logic).
Obviously you need to show about your strong ties in home country and why you might want to come back.
But the consulate can come-up with their own decision, since "intent" is something which can never be proved 100% . And the officers at consulate are instructed to consider every visa applicant as a possible immigrant.

If one has applied for AOS and received EAD/AP in the maiden name, should one wait or just get the name changed before I-485 is approved?
Once the name has been changed on the passport and SSN, what should be done to get the name changed on the AOS application and EAD/AP?

If you decide to change the last name and if you plan right all of it can be done within 1 week (speaking from experience. changed spouse's last name after 2 years of marriage and it was damn easy).
First plan where changing it is priority..something like:
> Financial (Banks, credit cards, brokers etc.)
> US Govt Agencies
Immigration (Since you have applied for AoS, might wait)
SSN
IRS (will be changed with a new return)
Local towns (only if necessary)
DMV - License
> Passport
> Workplace
then let the spouse make a notarized affidavit that says that she is making the declaration that I am the same as "old name" and "new name" and that I am making this declaration to change the name in official records, agencies etc.
Put new and old signatures and notarize it. Take the affidavit, marriage certificate (assuming that marriage is the reason for change) and then it is a simple cakewalk whereever you go.
SSN as others mentioned would be the first step, second comes passport, with both of these in new name, DL is easy.
The more you wait wider would be the penetration of the old name. That said if ones spouse wants it changed and doesn't do it now, guess will never do it. Sometimes it is only a mental block that it would be tough...thousands get married, thousands change their name. It is a well known issue ;)

If under the bullet point (b) you have an option to choose "other" then choose that.
EAD is not a status; pending I-485 allows you to be "legally present" in the country without having a "legal status". Similarly, AP allows you to travel out of the country and reutrn without abandoning your pending I-485 application. (At least that's what my understanding is .....)

I am trying to file for my H1 renewal on my own, I want to know if somebody in this community has done that. Also since SESA takes a bit of time in terms of wage determination, can I use the DOL online wage library as my source. Any inputs would be appreciated.

You cant file H1 on your own. You need ur employers signature on it and ur employer has to file the petition. Even if you beat all that it is still very very risky to file on your own.

When did you send the application? is this for 485?
I changed address twice since filing my I 485. Both times I e-filed the AR 11 form for myself and my spouse. Also added the I 485 case numbers to it. Both times I received a receipt from USCIS. Also I saw a soft LUD on my application. I did not call any one in USCIS to verify but I have sent copies of the receipt to my lawyer for his records.
Yes, PD & labor is same. Don't need to apply labor again. Just the I-140 since it's a company take-over.

how did you determine I was a NSC-CSC-NSC transfer case from that?

Many centers, when they claim, "we process cases in order we receive them...", or "our processing is within prescribed time schedule limits...", they treat this data entry date as the received date (as they think until it reached them for data entry, it is not their responsibility). When files are shuffled around, there may be a big difference in these dates, but no one has ever clarified that issue.

Eb3Retro, Did you sign G-28 initially for your (previous employer's) attorney to represent? if so how did you change the representation?
i have not changed attorney so far, just wanted to retain the same guy until i extend my EAD this time, (which is pending and awaiting results anytime soon) , once this is done, i am going to file G28 and self file AP myself. My attorney charges exorbitant fees for doing this, just for the safety sake, just for ead extn i used him...few more days and i will say thanks for all his services..
