Some IV members were in DC at USCIS building yesterday (Tuesday, July 10th, 2007) from 10 AM to 1 PM. There were reporters there including CNN-IBN and Voice of America (Aaj Tak chanel) with video cameras. We saw the deliveries of flowers being made by UPS and FedEx. The DHL guy told the flowers were already delivered in the morning in the big truck. The security guards at the loading dock of USCIS were not allowing Video Shooting after the reporters shot the UPS deliveries going inside. When the FedEx tuck came in, they made him park right near the Loading Gate and were trying to cover up by parking two other vans each side of that truck so nobody can shoot the delivery.
Then IV members went inside the USCIS building from the main gate to hand deliver the flowers with Get Well Soon ballon and card for Emilio Gozales. Teh Video cameras followed until the security guard asked them to stop the recording as they didn't have prior approval. The security guards, receptionists and people around were smiling by seeing the flowers for Gonzales. They let the IV members proceed towards the visitor area. Where another secuirity guard asked who the delivery was for and directed to one of the Gonzales's secretaries, Rachel, who accepted the flowers. There were people around her. Rachel said to them "This is creepy, as far as I know he ain't sick, we received flowers last week, they were pretty too. Yesterday someone sent him cookies. This is some kind of peaceful protest". Then she also read the card in front of IV members. IV members asked her about the website update which says they are sending these flowers to Walter Reed. She said yes, we are doing that. IV members thanked her and left the building.

They made them wait and then several people (from different level of securityty to management) came to talk with them and finally said they can not allow to shoot for security reasons. I just talked to one of teleblend rep (live chat on their website, very easy to do and I can do this during lunch time from office). The guy said they are working on something but was not providing any time line or details. I told him to hurryup else I will switch. Looks like we need more teleblend customers contact them to get this done faster. Guess they are waiting to see what effect or how many customers actually switch to vonage. Teleblend must offer $20 world plan in order to stay afloat in competition. I say this as they now offers $15 unlimited us-canada Vs. vonage $25 unlimited us-canada plan so far.
I'm also using teleblend and will call them tomorrow to ask for the deal...Currently their unlimited india plan is $35 + $15 + tax = close to $55.

FYI: I opened SR on Aug 4th... Yesterday I got response that my GC is approved (but the status online was still Initial review) and now today morning my status changed and I got approval email and an SMS too.
Given the above, I seriously think SR works. They must have checked my SR and then approved my GC.

The 10 years ----are you talking about several years of study plus several years of working in US in H-1B visa ONLY or for any people who have legally stayed in US for 10 years??? I raise this question because I am curious to know whether I will fit this category. I was a foreign student in US for 10 years and pay foreign student tuition fee in full for 10 years. The first 6 years in several degrees and then back home and then come to US again for professional doctorate degree in 4 years. Originally I find employer to file me the H-1B visa but the quota for Master degree or above is full and then I back home until now. I am sure someone has similar situations to me!!
From other forum, someone said that it is extremely difficult to legalize the illegal aliens due to recent huge economic recession. But if each illegal aliens give non-refundable $5000 immigration entry fee to the country, the country will have about $60 billion fixed income. Then I immediately have thought about if our international students who have stayed in US for 5 years or above give more immigration entry fee to the country, the country will have tremendous cash flow into the economy and may help the economic crisis. The better thing for everybody is to decouple the namecheck from the green card so that the name check can go on for as long as the FBI desires while you get the green card which can be revoked if the name check fails. To get a large government agency to spin their wheels faster so that some foreigners benefit in a post 9/11 world is a lunatic and impractical way of thinking.

I am pretty new to the forum (as a member), I have been browsing the same for quite some time and found it a good source of information regarding immigration related activities. Right now I am getting removed from my project as one of the top 3 Indian outsourcing firm is dumping their L1 resources at my client site and replacing all the citizens, GCs, EADs, H1 etc. These resources are used in projects managed and controlled by my client (most of them are consulting assignments) and these resources are used on java/.net/oracle projects, these two are violations of L1 visa restrictions set by USCIS, I want to know how and where to complain against this violation and we have all evidence to prove the same (project documents, time sheets, work assignments etc). Please let me know exactly and to which agencies we should complain.

Very true - ultimately naturalization is the goal for many. Green card is the only first legal step.
